Once they take the HID's you can change it to "DataDot Just Left the Max". If they want them, they will take them.

BTW....isn't there something similar on the headlights?

Otherwise, how does the would be thief know what that means? Probably just assume it's another RICE sticker.

I'd bet MOST people who see the sticker will think that means you have "security etched/protected glass" or something.

One of those gimicks dealers were pushing.

Forgive the dumb questionj...but what the hell is "data dot?" (I assume it has something to do with the HID's?)

Man we are fugged....I don't think that will deter anything.

The data dots are part of Nissan's answer to the high level of HID thefts that are occuring in the NJ/NY/PA/CT/MA areas.
It is a dot that contains info that links the light back to your car via the VIN. It is so the lights can be traced wherever they end up.

hope that helps

Thanks...that's pretty much what i figured....don't really see the point though...it's not like people who buy stolen property are worried about the VINs matching up...... I suggest smear the whole light with white lithium grease and see if they can get it out...and put some epoxy around it so it will never come out. OK not responses to that please...I am just joking.

I'm on a waiting list to get mine but if a thief wants them, they'll take them anyway. At best, we'll see more in the way of attempted HID theft rather than actual HID theft.

IMO, I think I'm better off with a sensitive alarm for deterrance.

If Nissan can put a chip in the key to make sure the right key can start the engine, they can also put a chip in the HID to make sure the same right key can turn on the HID. That sure would cut down on HID thefts because if you don't have the right key, the HID is useless. Those Nissan design guys are not thinking or they just don't get it :-)

It's kinda funny that they put all that money into making the Datadot and they could've funded an improvised security device for the amount it will cost them to produce Datadots.
