Getting to the Throttle Body

Is it possible to clean the throttle body by just removing the one clamp and the bendable hose or do I have to remove the whole intake?

I think I managed to do it by removing just the bendable hose... it was a pain though (not enough room to work for doing a thorough job wiping it out)

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. I asked Nissan to clean my TB and I think that's what they did.

after wiping as far as you can reach, is it safe to simply spray into the tb to get the rest?? this stuff'll combust right??? i think i read bigdogjonx did this and he said his car blew black smoke out the back... but now i'm thinking won't it just leave more crap inside??????

There was a long thread on this. I'd follow the recommendation of motorvate.ca Personally I had to remove the intake. Actually I didn't remove it, but merely moved it off to the side by unscrewing crap here and there and the air intake part that sits above the radiator.

Yeah, there was a big thread about this... bottom line: Don't spray the TB, you risk ruining the Throttle Position Sensor (can't be replaced on its own, gotta replace the whole TB if the TPS goes bad)
