How many have changed their in cabin filter?
How many have changed their in cabin filter?
Nissan recommends replacing it every 15k miles or annually. I have had my car for 22 months now and almost 22k miles on it. I have not changed it yet. I believe that if you don't drive in dusty places, it should last longer than they say.

I changed mine when i bought the car back in september. the car had 50K on it, and i think the filter did too..the a/c stunk really bad, kind of a moldy smell. Replaced the filter and that solved the stink.

I have a stock 2K GXE. It didn't come with a filter but you can add one. I did. Every 2K has the slot and housing for it. Also, not every one is washable. Many of the OEM filters are paper and not washable.

Instructions to do so
I remember seeing somwhere the instructions to do this - taking
apart the glovebox etc to get at the filter.
With search not working, can someone either
1) write up the procedure - I remember there being a warning about
the passenger side airbag issue.
2) or point me/us to the procedure thread
thanks!

filterinstallation
It was a little confusing getting past step 1. The 2K GXE doesn't have a lower glove box finisher so I was looking everywhere for it. About 30-40 minutes work the first time. Would take about 15 minutes the second time.

I just took mine out tonight. I held it up next to an old engine MAF filter and they are almost exactly the same. The engine air filter has a rubber gasket around it, that can be removed. The inside air filter has less width than the engine air filter, however the length is the same.
I wonder if there is an engine filter out there for another application (Ford, Toyota, etc) that you could get at pepboys to replace your inside air filter?
Mine had 4 numbers on it:
27274 4Y110
3S440 70110
What do those mean? There were no other part numbers (like the carbon one on courtesy's site)?

There are 4 screws in the top and 2 in the bottom on the 2k2. There are also two clips at the top that hold it in place. You have to remove the ABS connector clip from the holes in the back of the glovebox and disconnect the light harness plug.
Me neither and I have a 2002. Why are we missing this finisher that does not seem to be on 2000 - 2003?

As long as the car works fine, I don't miss it one bit.
In-cabin microfilter
My 2k SE didn't come with an in-cabin microfilter so I went to the dealer, purchased one and dropped it right in. Your car does have a place behind the glove box for the filter. Go down and get yourself a filter, you deserve it.

I changed mine at 47K. Easy to do. All you need is a screwdriver.
