road trip ahead

I'm going back to CT on wed when my exams end at school in SC. while i was driving today i noticed a slight whirring noise coming from my left front tire that came and went. i do not want to take it to the local nissan dealership since i had many problems with them before. the closest infinity or alt. nissan dealership is 30+ mins away.....would it be a bad idea if I took it into Pepboys or Autozone and had them look at it instead? BTW its a stock 2k GLE. Thanks.

it's never a bad idea to have it inspected for free, but take it to 2 or 3 places before you have anybody do anything.

also, do you have friends who use a local mechanic? Ask for a reference and drop your friend's name to the mechanic so 1) he knows he's getting business by word-of-mouth and 2) he doesn't try to screw you.
