benefits? - random tech high flow cat
benefits? - random tech high flow cat
hey all,
when I bought my max, the guy I bought it from included a random tech high flow cat. new in the box he never installed.
I've got a 2k max, and wondering if any one knows dyno improvements from the cat. I've heard mixed results and also that to pass emissions, the car needs to be warmed up prior to the emissions check.
anything else I should know? should I keep or sell?
thanks,
das

the stock cat flow freely.so it doen't help much. Also the ramdom cat will not last a winter,if your town uses snow salt. drive around for 30 min+ if you took off any pre-cat. As with any car drive around before going in for inspection, will reduce emmision.
Ive got one, I really dont see any difference with it as the only exhaust mod I have. If you mix it with a fully modded exhaust (i.e. headers, cat back and Forced Induction) thats where there will most likely be a difference.
I also hear it starts coming apart on the inside after a year or so of use.

forced induction cars are the only ones who REALLY see a benefit from those, and its better still to just run a straight pipe. You wont see any gains if you put it on. Gut it maybe and put it on - be like a straight pipe. Still wont do very muc tho
