Need Opinions !! Choice Between 2 Rides

OK so heres the scenario... My little brother is turning 16 on December 31, meaning he will get his license VERY SOON. He can either pick between 2 cars

A : take my honda and i get the max
B : take the max and i keep the honda

NOW B4 U GUYS GO ALL KRAZY OVER ME SAYING HONDA... consider the facts... the max doesnt have many mods to it, mainly the rims and stillen kit... the accord has a lil over 23 deep in mods, anything and everything you can do to a car, and then some... I just need some help picking which way to go... I get insane props for the accord, thats the only reason with me thinking twice...

now... the pics...

ACCORD
MAXIMA

In the accord pics, it's not posted but recently Honda S2000 projectors were added. - HID PICS - It also has Compustar 2 way alarm with remote start and the works... and to top it off - LoJack vehicle recovery system...

Thanks in advance guys... and HAPPY HOLIDAZE

take the max simply because its so much more faster, it has a nice aftermarket support but of course not as the accord. Its bigger and you see maximas on the road far less than accords. Maxima's are a higher class than the accord. what exactly are you planning to do to the accord with its aftermarket support?

BTW the accord really does look good but on the other hand the max isnt ugly too

16 eh? soon to get license eh? How about getting him a '91 corolla and let him wreck and beat the **** out of it then give him another car once he grows up.

But then again if you want to go that route, let him choose the one he likes better... I would give him the accord though. Would be a hit with his peers.

I definitely agree with that point. Don't give him Accord nor the Maxima.

Your Accord is phat! At 16, he has absolutely no driving experience. Add that to the thrill rides he is likely to take. Also, the killer music system you got is not a good idea for a new driver. Let him learn to drive first and appreciate the fact that driving is a privilage. Don't forget the peer pressure he's got... like pot, alkihol etc., they don't go well with all the entertainment mods you got.

Don't give him a Max either. They are just fast! Last thing you want to see is a 16 year old putting the pedal to the limit. The power that Max offers is just addictive.

Dude the Max is waaaay sweeter than the Accord. Not to mention the body kit is also nicer and the exhaust setup. The Max doesnt look lowered yet but it still looks more aggressive.

I agree that a 16 year old who has just gotten his license should not be driving either of those cars. There's too much temptation to take risks ....and that's dangerous for a new driver. I'd vote for that '91 Corolla...or something similar.

Two pieces of advice:

1. Keep the accord
2. Remove that ugly piece of dash trim from the center of your steering wheel and upper door panel. Who the hell designed that kit? Helen Keller?

You definetly have some nice work done to the accord, far too nice to let a 16 year old be driving it around w/o the possibility of him smacking it up! It would make me just to let him go and get gas. And the max shouldn't even be an option!

Like everyone else here said, get him a 91 corolla beater!

I'd take the partially ghettoed-out max over the fully ghettoed-out accord in a heartbeat.

Tough choice man. The max is a fairly uncommon color, has gobs of power, and looks pretty sweet. But personally, I'd,take off all those fake wood stickers! Fake wood, aluminum, and carbon fiber stickers cheapen any interior. Granted, that's just my opinion, so, whatever floats your boat.

The accord, i love the exterior. It is totally clean looking and classy. I've never understood the rear seat LCD screens, but perhaps your rear passengers can enjoy a round of karaoke as you drive? You said it's got all kinds of mods, so if those mods make it faster than the max, i'd probably take the accord. I love the fact that you didn't go overboard on the exterior.

But if the max is faster, it's definitely a better ride so keep it. You can customize it later.

Your accord is very nice lookin, and Honda is known for real good quality cars. It'd be a hard choice to give one or the other to the 16 year old. I'd also recommend gettin him an older, or at least slower car. I would have gotten myself into a crapload of trouble if I had the 3.5 VQ in my first car! Never wrecked it or anything, just had a lead foot. Givin a present of a sweet car to someone who just gets their license gives little reason for them to respect the car and whatnot, so I would htink its gonna be pretty likely he cracks it up, or gets several tickets.

Tell him to keep a clean record for a year wtih an older car, then if he can do that and prove he's a good driver, let him take one of your nice cars. Maybe even the max!

I would have to agree w/ most of the guys here. Drive a Corolla at 16.

But if I had to make a choice between the two cars, I would pick the Maxima. I personally don't think you need to be driving around w/ killer sound system.

Oh and that wood trim on your steering wheel, Take It Off!

Personally I'd take the max. The accord looks like ****, IMO, and even though you have so much audio/video upgrades, it looks like a turd that was attempted to be shined. The damn thing still has cloth interior. (I love leather, sorry) I dont think it's a question. That accord is for a 16 year old. I"m sorry you wasted 23 "deep" on that thing, you should have bought a nicer car instead.

Well, thanks for all the responses guys...

my first car at 16 was 96 max
my middle brothers first car at 15 was 99 gle, my parents have to get my youngest something nice, besides - we refuse to have a junker in the family ...
TheyCallMeSteel, i am in the process of gettin 2 toned leather, sorry you dont dig the car... its the fact that ppl give me props left n right that's makin me think twice bout this...
2k3TitaniumSe, my dad bought it so my mom wouldnt kill us, =) he has his own truck, the max is our toy car, waiting for me or my bro to take it, and i am harjot ......
bigdo26, the max was bought for him when he got his license, but due to its power my parents gave me option of taking it... ...
sweeper, thanks for the comments man... appreciate it, and as for the headrest monitors, i used them once when i had some homegirls back there, they wanted to watch a movie... its more of a "showoff" item then anything else, honestly......
my lil bro is a responsible driver, my middle bro was in a near fatal crash in his 99 max, he had to be cut out the car, airlifted, the whole nine yards... we all learned from it and stopped driving crazy... when you see ur sibling laying there motionless with a million tubes going in and out his body like a scienct project, u sure change ur views about drivin... thanks for all the responses... ill let you know what i decide...

Your Accord is pretty darn nice, but I still vote for the Maxima based on the fact that you see many more hooked up Accords vs. Maximas.

I don't think he should be allowed to "have" either car. Get him the Corolla!!

Ideally, it would be nice to have all the stereo stuff in the Max. The Accord is very nice and really the only thing the Max has on it is power and a few ammenities. I've had a few Accords and even though I love my Max to DEATH, if I had to choose between those two cars AS IS...I would choose the Accord. However, having said that, I wouldn't give up MY Max for any Accord...it's set up the way I want.

Oh...get rid of the woodgrain!!! Especially the piece on the steering wheel!!!

Good luck!

Tony

Both those cars are nice IMHO (Maxima looks classier )
But no 16 y/o needs a car like that. Get him a junker, or if you want to spend some money, get him an older used SUV if you can find one for cheap...
The kid needs to learn and respect the basics of driving, so he has a baseline for comparison when he finally moves up to nice cars (like the Max )

Wow! Only in America can "Daddy" pass down
new $25+K cars to "kids" with no driving experience.......

Assuming you've driven both cars , there is no way
that you'd consider the 4 banger over the 6-
Although your Accord looks very nice!

You have the classiest color MAx with some bling wheels- but killed it with fish gills (too aggressive for the overall luxo look of the car)

i agree here...both are very nice, but make him prove himself...you set the time frame, but to give him either pimp ride immediatly? i think you are asking for trouble. i grew up in a fairly wealthy family, and my first vehicle in 93 was a 79 chevy blazer. it was in excellent condition, and was a bit of a head turner, but it wasn't pimped out or fast. i had to work for the mods i wanted, and eventually for the car i wanted, but you need to do what you feel is right. i don't think you will be sorry if you set up a probation period, and then give him the accord keep the max for yourself! just my .02
