Gas Pedal Rod Replacement
Because of the nature of my weird, early-built car, I cannot do the AE pedal exchange that mdeal described in his great directions. In order to do so, I had to purchase the whole rod and this is what it looks like (2 Pics)

A different view - standing up!

Now the fork-like thing at the top is what I am having trouble with because it connects into the accelerator wire up near the firewall as shown by the following drawing:

My question is really - has anyone who is here on the board ever done this? Is there something to be careful of? There's no screw or anything so I don't know how it connects and so do I run the risk of throwing off the calibration of the wire or anything like that? Or am I just making it too hard. If anyone at all has any advice, encouragement or whatever, I would be greatful. Thanks,
Matt

That fork thing...I've seen and delt with that type of connection. When I replaced my shift assembly, the cables were connected like that. I pried them off. Pull straight back. Push straight on. Use a pair of plyers to get a good grip 'cause you'll need it.

My situation was slightly different. I believe that fork may wrap around something, as in to hold it in place, like a cable or wire or something. That is why I said I had to pull it out, the cable that is, from between the fork "teeth".
I guess you'll have to get in there to see how it's situated before making an assumptions. It might be a piece of cake; it might be a nasty piece of cake, too.

You should have cut the bracket off...you should have cut the bracket off...you should have cut the bracket off
