Squeeky Brakes....I hate them!!!

I took my 2000 se into nissan to check the brakes this week and they told me I have 50% still left and they look ok...They were fine for a couple days after they got adjusted from there and started making noise again...He said something about moisture and when humidity is high they tend to make noise...Does anyone else have to go through this annoying problem...Anything I can do? Thanks guys

I don't know how they could have been adjusted. Disc brakes are self adjusting.

I didnt mean that they got adjusted, just check cleaned etc...Its so annoying and drives me nutts...When I get in the car if I stop 2 or 3 times, it goes away usually...SO whenever I pull out i hit the brakes like 3 or 4 times right away, but i shouldnt have to...You know your car looks "REAL Cool" when you pull up to somewhere and there is people around and they make loud a$$ noises...

grrrr I am having the same problem. I had my rotors resurfaced back in October than I had an accident and when I got the car back in November they have been squeaking ever since. I feel like i have to pump the brake as soon as I hear the screetch.

I would get it checked out by a brake shop. I don't trust Nissan techs

take your car to a local brake shop and see what's wrong w/ your brakes. A lot of places have free inspection. If it's the same parts Nissan replaced or fixed, take your car back to Nissan and have Nissan fix your brakes for free.

I've noticed my breaks sqeeking quite a bit lately. I got a oil change coming up in about a week so I'm going to bring it up when I take my car to the dealer. My ride only has 24k.

I called nissan today and talked to the one guy I know over there...He said something about in the winter they will tend to be more squeeky etc, b/c of the metallic pieces etc..So i asked him if I could replace them with another pad and he said they have soft pads but will only last about 6k miles...NO WAY...What kinda shop is the best one to take it to? Is there shops that are specifically "brake shops"? I mean I know some small shops and stuff, but have never really looked for any specialty ones...

I never take my car to the dealership. I always take my car to local mechanics that does much better job IMO. There are places that specialize in brakes.

Pads that last only 6k miles? Sounds like bunch of bs to me.

Well i think the conclusion to this episode I have come to is just get some new pads from Dave B. and get a local shop to put them on...Anyone think I am wasting money by doing this? ALl together I think it will cost me around 170 to get front and back pads done with labor...I dont even know if this will solve the damn squeek..But I talked to Dave and he said something Nissan put out a new pad with the updated TSB for the warped rotors, suppose to be much better..I may just go with them...

why dont you work on your brakes at home? It's easy and there are many instructions out there.

Well when you do a brake job with new pads you wanna take some off the rotor, so I will have the shop just do it so they can machine them and throw the pads on...Plus it saves me the time of jacking it up etc. in this freezing cold weather...
