Anyone else have squeaky brakes in the morning?

My car is only 9 months old and it was garage kept for about the first 6 months, however I moved and unfortunately at my new place it sits outside in the driveway every night. I've recently noticed (about the same time I moved I think) that my brakes squeak TERRIBLY every morning while backing out of the driveway. Once the car gets a little warmer it completely goes away. Is this normal? And if so, why does it happen to me but not to all the $12,000 POS Chevy Cavaliers and Toyota Echos on my street?

This is very normal, mine has done it since I bought it and still does it after i changed the pads. My Grand Prix did it as did my other Maxi's. Problem is rusty rotors with ceramic pads, my advice learn to live with it. Chris

You sure it's not the rust build up on the rotors?

I get rust on the rotors whenever they get wet and sit... well at least 12 hours, never actually noticed how long it takes to build up a layer of rust on them, around a day or two I guess

Just replaced both front and back rotors and pads, park outside every night of the week, get the squeek constantly, no big deal just a pain in the *** since I know I just replaced my isht, should be nice and quiet

The same thing happens to me in my '02. When I back out of the driveway and apply the brake, it makes some terrible noise. My theory is that after the initial rust dusting gets knocked off, no more noise.

BTW, it only makes the noise for the first few stops.

my max makes those noises constantly.....i'm guessing it's the cheap brake pads they put in....even tho it cost $119+tax (20 bux pads and $100 for labor). I heard cheap brake pads collect dust easily therefore making the squeaky noise.

The stopping power is fine.....but it's just so damn fukin annoying...

when I wash my car and wet the wheels and rotors get wet, once they dry it will build a layer of rust on them.

I have the problem too....I talked to Dave B about getting some new pads for the car and have a local shop do my brakes for me...I hate the noise more than anyone, and at this point I dont know what else to even do....

I have his phone number somewhere but I can't find it, I'm sure someone else will have it for you. But here's the link to his profile...you can send him a PM or an email from there.
