Maintence and SES light

My brother just moved the car into the driveway and told me the SES light just came on. Its has about 75500 miles on it. I'm hoping when I start the car tomorrow the light is off but if it isn't, could it be a simple reminder to have the car tuned up? Aside from squealing brakes I haven't noticed anything. I just want something to ease my mind before I goto bed. Thanks.

These thread pop up non-stop. We cant speculate what the SES light can mean, there are over 100 codes.

Could be something simple, could be something fatal. Get the code pulled and tell us what it is so we can better assist.

Not for our cars, we dont have the maintenance lights like Honda's and BMWs do.

Its going to be something related to a sensor.

similar thing here. just past 75k miles and SES light is on. isn't emissions warranty 8/80k? if so, is it a reminder to check the car out for emissiong stuff before the warranty runs out?

My ses light just came on a few weeks ago. Finally took it in and asked about the 80k bit, the lady said that only covered the catalytic converter and something or other about the computer. She said my computer lost it's programming and they had to reprogram. Cost: $65.........

There is no reminder light on the Maxima whatsoever. As noted above, only cat and the ECU are covered under the 80k warranty.
