HELLLLPP Brake light prob!!!
HELLLLPP Brake light prob!!!
Ok, so I start my car last night to go out. I am driving and I notice the brake light is on but the E-brake is released and the car is driving normal. After a while or after hard braking, the light disappears and comes back and goes again. Same thing happened today morning. Its been 20 degrees both days. What the heck is going on and can it be fixed?

Absolutely true! Mine is just about at needing new pads (54,000 miles on the originals!!!!) and the fluid level is low. Depending on your mileage, go ahead and replace the pads first (front and back), see where the level is and then add fluid. NEVER do the opposite.....DOT4 fluid is messy.
OK, I did a little searching on this problem and it seems the general consesus is pads being worn out or low brake fluid. Heres one question I have, any reason why a car with only 8500 miles have worn out pads so fast. I rarely do hard braking. Brake fluid is 1/4 above the distance between Min and Max.

Hey MacAlert,
Have you gotten your Max back from the dealer yet? My 2K is doing the exact same thing as yours. My pads have way more than 8500 on them, so this is likely the cause of my brake light situation. However, with your pads having so few miles I wanted to know if the dealer was able to confirm the low fluid thing.
Got my brakes fixed today. Dealer claimed my pads were "nonexistent" and my rotors needed to be resurfaced. Well, $270 later, brake light is gone and crank sensor recall done. For that amount of money, I could have gone with aftermarket rotors and pads. Oh well, can't do anything now.
