Who has had their MAF replaced? 2002-2003 ONLY!!! I was wondering because theyt say that 2003s had new and better MAFs. I was just wondering how many 2002s had it reeplaced and how many 2003s had it replaced even when it is said to be better.

I had mine replaced but not because i had issues with it. My warranty was running up and decided to go with the TSB anyway.

Btw, i bought my 2k2 around August of 2k1.

Just wanted to know if using an aftermarket intake would mess up more of the 2002 MAFs.

My service advisor wouldn't do the TSB on my car. He said if it isn't broke they don't have to fix it. He said Nissan won't pay for it and they don't have the money to do work for free basically or I coud pay for it myself!

Is that the way it is with most dealers?

Original MAF on my 2K2. Injen intake for about 5000 miles. No problems yet.

But my stock MAF is the one they put on the 2K3's (22680-AM600). Not sure why, maybe because my 2K2 was a late build (3/02)??

I've had mine replaced twice under warranty. Once for the hesitation TSB and the second as a "we don't know what else to do" solution for ping/knock.

From what I know, THe 2k3 MAFs are better for INTAKES.
2k2s seem to blow out once in a while.

MY 2k3 Still works fine after 6,000? miles.

Yes I do. But it doesn't ping anymore. They set the idle back by a point. They figured that out after 10+ visits.

Is there anything at all some ppl did diff. in the installation of their intakes which isn't blowing the MAF? It's so odd that some ppl can last 20k+ w/an aftermarket intake while others are blowing MAF's w/in weeks of installing an intake.

Greek did you not unplug the MAF when installing the intake or ...? (just throwing out ideas..prbs isn't something as simple as that but who knows)

Had my 2k2 replaced about 4 months ago.

Dealer said it was caused by K&N drop-in. Had to take it out...

I've blown them all. All 3 MAFs available for the 2002-2003 VQ35. The source is the ECU. That's why there was the TSB with the software update.

But... even after the update and the new MAF, I've blown it too. So nothing is safe, but your best bet is with the TSB update and the 2003 MAF.

Search (if you can) for "MAF" and put "studman" in the username section. There's 23098739187 other threads about this too.

I installed my Injen intake almost as soon as I got my car at September of 2002. Installed at intake at around 1000 Mile on the Odometer.

Now is almost 24000miles, no problem......during the interval, I redline the gear 3 or 4 times at WOT, No problems here~~ (knock on wood)

I had mine replaced a couple of days ago, I took my car to the dealer when my S.E.S LIGHT came on (it had a vacuum leak), and while there I told my service advisor i had a problem while accelerating and basically described the symptoms outlined in the T.S.B, and of course he called me back with the now familiar phrase "not able to duplicate at this time", but he decided to replace the MAF and do the software update since my car is still under warranty, (3,800 miles on it). I don't know what MAF I had before, but I feel better now.

Do you mean "timing" or "idle" I didn't think that the Idle would have anything to do with the pinging. ???

Actually, there was a post on the Org a few months back that said retarding the idle resolves the pinging issue with the Max. That's the only post I've seen on it.

I had my Max in for the lack of power TSB last thursday, and they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. Funny thing is, once I got the car back, it drove great. That lasted for about 3 days, and now it's sluggish again
