Another MAF question.

I've had my 03 SE since May and recently I feel that I have lost power, but I'm not sure if I'm just used to the Max's power now, or if it really is sluggish.

Is the loss of power that warrants a MAF replacement extremely noticeable, or subtle enough that only a machine could pick it up?

Are the dealers weary about doing this TSB in general? (I know all dealers are different.)

On a side note, the other night I sort of lost to a late model Celica. I didn't floor it off the line, and I chirped my tires, but I couldn't catch the guy. I shut down at 60ish. Either he was modded out or my Max is lacking power. Right?

Thanks.

PS- I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I don't have search function, so please go easy on me.

I heard that if the Maf is failing, then you can't go over 2500 rpms. Thats what I was told. Is you car like that?

check and make sure all the vacuum hoses in the engine bay are on tight......doesn't sound like a MAF problem, those are more pronounced.

Also, if you have an aftermarket intake, make sure the hose clamps are airtight, as well as the hole where the MAF sensor goes into the intake midpipe....if there is a leak of air AFTER the MAF, you will get power loss.

But really, it could be one of many things that could cause that.....

I'm taking mine in for two things next week and its probably the same things you need. First is a TSB for " lack of power" , this applies to 2002-2003
Maxima and Altima with VQ 35 engine. The other is a recall for engine sensors,
for 2003 the VIN range is from 400002 to 515067. Dealers are well aware of both and shouldn't give you any trouble, hope that helps.
