New Tranny being installed, as we speak....

The dealer just showed me the price for it . $3500 just for the tranny, 900 labor , and 150 freight .....YIKES ! Good thing it's under warranty, barely. Im at 59k miles..... I couldnt believe the price of the tranny . Thats insane for such a POS !
I asked him if they had done any other 2k2-3 Maxes. He said no. Only 6 speeds. No autos.....

He also told me that they have done 5-8 Z350 6 speeds already. I guess the 6 speed tranny is not as great as I thought.....

This confirms the fact that this will be my first and last Nissan purchase.....

Thats good your getting a brand new tranny. Di you have to end up remooving the synthetic fluid for original? Did you have your intake off?

It started slipping from a roll. The 2-3 shift was lagging inmensly. Recently, all the shifts were lagging. I continued to drive it for a week, while Nissan was waiting on the new Tranny. I dont know if any of the components have improved on it.

Surprised they didn't blame your heavy rims.

Glad to hear you got it covered, but if I were you and you're planning on driving it like you have been for another 60K, I'd pony up for a tranny cooler.

Hayden makes traditional tube-style tranny cooler

B&M has some nice tranny cooler (the passage surface area is larger than that of hte Hayden) with fan and thermostat.

sorry for your tranny. glad that you got it replaced right before warranty ends.

I was wondering if mine is anything like yours. When I really get on my Max while in first gear it seems like there is a lag point between the shift from first to second.

Is that normal to kind of have a pause between shifts like that? It does fine when driving normally though.

thanks

Im thinking maybe the tranny is stronger like Nissan states, but the torque of the 3.5 is just killing it softly Peace_

Depends on how long the lag is. There really shouldnt be any lag between 1-2....my lag was alwyas between 2-3. After my tranny was slipping, that lag just got worse. I really think the 1-2 shift was the tightest of them all......I would get it checked out ! Most dealers will act and tell you they didnt find anything wrong......

I agree. Service guys are idiots for the most part. My car was at the dealership for 4 days last week waiting for a new MAF, so I asked the sevice guy to check if my car qualifies for the sensor recall and get it fixed while is there, he told me it didn't apply to my car, yesterday I read a post here with the VIN #'s affected, and sure enough, it applies to my car, so now I have to go back and waste more of my time because of their stupidity. Sorry for straying of topic, I just had to vent.

I had my Stang in NY from 89-93, and only put in 25k miles in it....distances are a lot more here in So Cali ....

Out of curiosity. Are you doing this under extended warranty (if you bought any) or power train warranty? What does power train warranty cover other than engine?

Powertrain is the Motor and the Tranny. Thats about it.

Larry, what are you smokin.......even if you tried to put an auto in 1 at 80 mph, the tranny wont go lower than the gear, that its safest to go into. Its not a manual....

Im sure the 30+ passes at the track didnt help, or the manual shifting I do, when I race....

Now, Im getting a tranny cooler and the VB mod. I will be spraying hopefully by the end of this month, so lets see how long the next one lasts. I have 12k miles to blow the next one up.....

If the tranny is not fully warm, the 1-2 and 2-3 shift will be slow and laggy. Most electronic trannys operate this way.

You are right. But when you are in your 45th minute of your commute, and it does it, you've got a problem...

Damn Kloogy... that sucks. If it blows out again after your warranty expires, get one from a junkyard... they go for about $1,200.

Got my Max back. Tranny feels great. On the way home, the Max went again ! Shut off, woudlnt start. I was able to finally get it started, and I went back to the dealer. They ran the scanner on it for codes, and got back a bad Cam position sensor, and a bad Crank sensor. WTF ! They replaced the cam sensor on the spot, and the car started up. Im going back on Sat , so they can do the Crank sensor. Im lucky that they are both covered under a recall.......I guess I got luck lately !

Bro, I say sell it. You have less then 1K left for your warranty to be done with. Nitrous is only going to shorten the life of the tranny. I know you want to spray but consiquences come with it, you know that. Personally I say just leave it be and use the car for what it was intended to be used for, cruisin
Atleast you got a 3.5 under the hood, its not like its slow. Obviously not a 12sec ride like your last two, but then again your last two ride were diff animals.
