89 Del Sol takes on 5th gen

this is a quote I got from someone on another forum taking on 5th gen. No dyno or slips. Just talk and a pic. Will try to post pic after.
ok so you know the beggining letters of your engine code? do you know the rest or do you have to do a search online or actually go pop your hood to tell me the rest. Well I will save you some time and tell you that your engine is a VQ30de. In cubic centimeters thats 2988cc. Yes I do understand that you have a 3.0L DOHC MFI engine. Understand that the Nissan Maxima is not a fast car. It may feel some what powerful to an automotive laymen like yourself but it really isnt. A big selling point for automotive engineers is to gear the transmission correctly so it has a smooth power and torque band which in turn makes the consumer think they are piloting down the highway (We will briefly discuss torque later). Also keep in mind that your car weighs in at a stout 3200lbs give or take some couple hundred pounds depending on how much you weigh, and what trim level you have. If you would like proof of these figures then just take some time to check out this link it should be very helpful in your search for automotive knowledge specifically in NISSAN engines, and you do need some knowledge especially if you want to debate with me. https://maxima.org/shoptalk/sub_read...ns/index.shtml NOw lets talk numbers if common sense doesnt add up for you. MY cars curb weight is 2491lb. stock from the dealership. stock my engine (B16A3) performs at 160hp and 111 lbs of torque @ 7600rpm which is flywheel based. your engine the (VQ30de) performs 222HP @ 6400rpm, 217 lb-ft @ 4000rpm, which is also flywheel based. NOW...
THe shiney thing, as you would probably refer to it as, on the top of my turbo manifold which you would probably call it headers (lol) is a wastegate. A wastegate regulates the amount of boost the turbo will produce. I am pushing 15psi of boost out of my 1.6 dohc vtec engine (honduh engine to you). If you slept through physics - PSI denotes per square inch. After installing a complete turbo kit my car dynoed at 325 whp and 185 ft/lbs of torque. oh yeah torque is twisting force. Now imagine 325 whp piloting a 2491 lb vehicle against a 3200lb vehicle with an output of 186whp and 186 ft/lbs of torque and thats wheel power. My car is what we call a sleeper. Looks like a HONDUH to you but if you see me on the street and try me you will get smoked. When you can say you have beat many Z28 camaro's and LS1 vette's then holla at a playa.

Sure it can move, but it is still one of the gayest POS cars on the road. The Maxima beats it in every category except speed (only cause he's boosted) and handling (I could lift that car up carry it to work) Stock v. stock I'll beat him with ease, but what's the point it's a puss car.

Who would have ever guessed that a jumbo Go-kart would weigh less than a 4 door family sedan

From the way his post reads he seems like a pr!ck who thinks his 185ft lbs is really something. Gee at only 15psi Phuckin ricer honduh boy.

I love the way he tries to totally belittle who ever his response is to. What a homo.

Why the hate? The Del Sol with a turbo will whoop on a Maxima all day long. . . so be it, the proud owner of that Honda is stating the truth. A turbo Maxima with same boost would destroy the Del-Sol though, then again, a Maxima with 15psi would destroy the stock internals.

No one is hating. ANd every one here knows his del slo would destroy any stock maxima--that is obvious. My prob is that he comes off as a cocky pr!ck. oh and 15 psi on a smaller turbo that he has dosent equal the same power a larger turbo would make. So at 15psi he gains 165 hp over stock. That same 165hp would be generated by a t3/t4 on a maxima at what 7 or 8psi. So even if the stock internals on the maxima would hold at 15psi on a larger turbo it would be making what?-600hp
