what i meant was that the Injen design on the 5th gen is not nearly as good- for a cold air intake

why not? up at the intake manifold make a 20degree bend then at the front of the engin make a 50 degree bend and you've got the 5th gen design

and btw, that's a little straighter because there's more room in the engine compartment because the engine is mounted differently for rwd than in a max...

That's a 6th gen max, and if i'm not mistaken it's a FWD car.

MannyNJ2k2max, what Max_Gator is trying to say is that the Place Racing CAI for the 5th gen is exactly like this.... That's why when someone posts asking what's a true CAI for the max, people reply that it's the PR CAI. The Injen is NOT a true CAI. It's a wannabe CAI.

I helped install an Injen RD CAI on my friend's alti 3.5 and it looks exactly like that '04 max... so you can imagine I was a little disappointed when I bought an Injen for the Max. On the atli, the filter is right in the wheel well, as for mine.. well more like right behind the radiator and beside the engine pretty much...

yeah, I've been considering the Injen for a while... but a PR might just be called for here.
I am a little confused about the "cutting" required... I understand you use a keyhole saw on a drill, but where the filter sits, what is it exposed to? Is it exposed entirely to the inner wheel well, receiving all the mud/dirt/snow/etc. that the tires can throw?

Injen ==

Look at where the filter sits. Right behind radiator...

The only true CAI for the 5th gen is Place Racing, and Cattman. Case closed.....

Hmmmm, I think i'm gonna order a PR CAI.. i heard nothing but good news about PR CAI. As for the Injen CAI.. how can it be CAI if it sits right by the radiator and the engine? I don't get it..

The PR comes with directions and a template to help you properly cut out the hole. Its a piece of cake install.
