High pitch noise when accelerate, normal?

Hi, I am a in this forums, just got my 2k1 gxe month ago.
I like my maxima, however, the high pitch noise just make me uncomfortable.
I can hear the noise from rear (I think) when I apply the acceleration pedal.
When I release the pedal, the noise disappears.
The noise is a small high pitch whistling (hissing) sound.
Is this normal?
Please give me some information

All the time? A certain RPM level?
You have an intake?

I only hear the noise when I apply the padel (not too much, just like normal accelation, The rpm is higher than 2000.). Once I release the padel, the noise gone. I don't have a intake. Everything in my car is stock.

Happens to me around 2100 RPM but then goes away.. and yes goes away when I let off the gas.
If your car is stock then there is most likely something wrong with the stock intake setup and Nissan should look at it. (maybe a leak).
I wouldn't really worry too much but I would fix it.

do you have any sort of electronics (aftermarket) hooked up? If so it sounds like a form of engine noised. It happened to me from just using my friends radar detector. . Besides that i cant understand why you are getting the noise. Hope this was helpful.

I have everything stock.
In the begining, I thought it might be some engin noise from speakers.
However, I can still hear the noise even the radio is turned off.
Is it possible that the speakers still make noise when the audio system is turned off?
I don't really sure where the noise come from.
It feel likes coming from behind.
Is it possible that the exhaust system make this noise?

unfortunately, I already have the dealer looked at my car and they couldn't even "hear" the noise.
It is so obvious that I can't understand why they ccouldn't recognize it.
Anyway I will try another dealer to find out what the noise is.
Thank for help

that's their way of saying, "we don't feel like fixing it, so we'll pretend the problem doesn't exist"

oh and i also have the same problem, and i do have an intake. but the intake was actually making a second type of whistle at the same time, and i checked all the hoses and fittings on that and got rid of that whistle, but the high pitched squeal noise is still there. happens when you rev in park or neutral also, just at partial throttle.

don't worry about it...my 2k2 does the same exact thing...i think it's just gear whine. some cars even though they're the same model are louder than others...not much can be done about it.

I know it sound like the rear or something, but Check your belts on the passenger side. I had a similar sound when I accelerate. (i thought what the heck it this?) Anyways, I sprayed some belt dressing (NOT armor-all - its in a spray can) on the belts. I think mine ( the sound) was attributed to minor belt squeal... almost sounds like a turbo or something.

After that it went away.

Good luck and let me know if that helps.

Mine's done that since day 1, can't stand it.

Just always play the radio or buy an intake and/or exhaust to help cover it up.

IceY2K1's got the right idea. music keeps it off your mind, although people outside the car can hear it. one the intake kicks in its gone anyway

Thats your intake. since it's cold outside..the air is less dense..and so it's harder for the engine to suck the air through the intake( or breathe)...unfortunately there is no way to fix it unless you change you intake...I get the same noise but at a much higher RPM ( roughly 3000 +)...it's just air TRYING to rush in.No worries there

I will try to do this but
What kind of belt dressing I have to use?
Which belts should I spray?

i hear the same thing also, i usually always have music playing so i can't hear it, and when i don't, its a real weird sound, but i bet whoever drove your car at the dealership is so use to the sound from driving other maximas that it wouldn't click in his mind that there is a problem, enough people claim they hear the same thing so it's gotta atleast be "normal"

the noise went away, when i switched to K&N stock intake filter, the whistling noise is gone, but i can hear more air going into the engine, but atleast the whistling noise went away. and it only cost me 40 bucks, and it suppose to gain some power, like 1 or 2hp.
