my 2k2 was 27.5 front, but thats with 235/40 18's which ride about a half centimeter lower. but your 27.5 is MOST likely stock.

Ok thats what I figured. It just confused me that my auto 2k2 is at least 1/2" or more higher in the front. If id put H&R up front only would it be about 27 or closer to 26?

Anyone have any experience with Falken Springs? Sounds like they're rebrands from some other company. I can't find any review on them or what the spring rates might be. The claimed drop is 1.7" front / 1.6" rear.

Yah, sounds like they're rebadged Eibachs... For $100 shipped, I might have to try a set of these. I'll let you know how they ride with Illuminas.

IMO its more important to have better ride/experience alot more than better appearance.

I love my H&R's, they are the best of both worlds IMHO. Not to harsh, and sporty enough to have fun when the time comes. You'll be happy with them.

the GR2's are OEM replacements.

I currently have GR2's with Eibachs and the ride is perfect.

general consensus

I am also currently on stocks trying to decide. The general consensus seems to be that the top 3 for performance over looks is:
H-techs
Eibach
H&R's

of the three, are any of these actually better comfort and performing than stock? plus a slight drop? or is that even possible? Does drop always dicate loss of comfort? Which of the three is the best?
Thanks for your input

Right now I am running on Tok. Blues w/ Stock Springs. I didn't get an alignment when I got it. I expected a less floaty ride but my wheels are turning left & right (steering wheel) is moving on uneven roads. My tires got about 50k on them about now. Does this mean I need new springs (considering H &R's) or a new rack & pinion w/ new ball joints? I need help please & fast!

This is what it seems like when choosing springs after reading every single post in this thread:

1)S-Tech(~$159): Slammed! From outside, the ride is sitting pretty. It will eventually cause problems later.

2)Maxspeed(~65.00): Very Nice Drop 4 the price! There is a noticeable drop. It is not built as well as some other brands and to some it may feel that the car is unstable.

3)H-Tech(~$162): Drops the front more than the back. It takes care of the ugly gap that Max's have in the front of the car. Rides slightly better than the S-Techs.

4)H & R's(~$200): So far the 2nd most expensive springs behind Eibach. Supports the best ride for the daily driver, but for some its frustrating that the drop isn't enough and it doesn't really take care of the ugly gap in the front fender wall.

5)Eibach (~$200): Eibach is one of the top of line lowering springs for cars, but that reputation didn't seem to go well with 5th Gen Max Drivers. People complain that ride quality is slightly harsh.

I am def. leaning b/w H & R's and Eibach right now. My car has that sloppy feeling and I want it to totally dissapear. 60/40 lean on H & R's as of now.

If I'm wrong, please post my mistakes.

I just went through this whole thought process and ended up ordering Tein H-Techs w/ Tokico Illuminas.
The main reason I chose H-Techs over H&R's was I wanted the even drop.
Many complain that the H&R's result in the back end sagging.

I'll have them installed in about a week (still waiting on delivery).

Eibach and Illuminas. 3F/3R.

Why did I go this setup?
1. $400 with 7k miles on the org. Love classifieds.
2. irish (one of the suspension gurus) lives by it, and pretty much took his advice.

Love it, even over bumps, not too harsh, not too bouncy.

Since this thread is back, here's an update:

I've now had these installed on my daily driver for about 3 months. The Illuminas are set to 3F/3R.
The ride is much better than stock, the drop is pretty even, and the only complaint is occasional bottoming out on large potholes.
As others have mentioned, it does seem the fronts are little soft for the weight.
As long as your aware of it, it doesn't pose much of a problem.

All in all I am very happy with this set-up.

Has anyone run Megan Racing Springs? I have a hook up from my S chassis days and I know they were good on those but not sure on 5th Gens. I can get them for less than $110. They are supposed to be 1.8F/1.6R. Let me know if anyone is running these? Thanks

Has anyone used 2 different sets of springs for the ride heights from front to back.
so say use S-techs in the front and then H&Rs in the back along Illuminas all around?
What do people think that would cause?
I do have S-Techs installed with the Illuminas currently. I love the way it looks. But this car is my daily driver and the ride is a bit harsh.
The Illuminas were set to 3 all around, but the car was bouncing around a bit too much for my taste, so I set them all to 5. Much less bounce.
But the ride is still harsh.
I also do have a set of H&R springs. The front ones have been chopped. Would those be ok to run instead of the S-Techs?

This guy who reviewed all the spring/strut choices in the "great suspension thread" ended up having H&R's in the front and stock springs in the back, and he said it worked very well for him.. as far as 2 different aftermarket springs... never heard of it

See, now I'm thinking about getting some springs. The ONLY real reason I want them is for the increased high speed stability. I'm not a big fan of drops, so I'm looking for the most mild drop possible with some added performance at high speeds and launching. I currently have illuminas set on 2 with stock springs, and the ride isn't much different from stock. I'll go firmer eventually to try it out whenever I stop being lazy and adjust them. But yeah, I'm thinking about the H&Rs because they seem to ride similar to or even better than stock around town (which is where I do most of my driving).

Does anybody have any trouble going into parking lots or over speed bumps with H&R springs?

There is going to be a huge difference in ride quality with H&R and s-tech so I wouldn't do it. I have H-Tech and illuminas and I love it. I went from S-Tech and GR-2 on my I30 to this set up and I LOVE IT. Drop is perfect also. Nice and even IMHO.
