Lights get brighter under acceleration

Whats up all?
Had a problem with my 2000 SE no start. Got a new battery and it seems it fixed the problem. Now when I rev the engine my lights get brighter! Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

definately sounds like the alternator is going bad. you might have a little bit of time but if it is cold there it will go even quicker.

Particularly, it's likely to be the voltage regulator that's integrated into the alternator. They usually recommend to replace the whole alternator though...

so do mine. and on all cars i have pretty much been in. it's normal, since the alternator does not produce peak output at idle. lights are sensitive and will reflect any change in voltage.

one thing you can do is, somehow (maybe go beg dealer) is to increase idle to about 1200, which is not a good idea on this car.

i know police package cars get around that by having a higher output alternator spinning off a separate belt so it turns faster, and also the idle is bumped up by the ECU under load to about 1300.

Do you have an upgraded audio setup in your car? If so it's pulling too much juice. I would reccommend getting a cap or possibly an extra battery.

If thats not the case change out your alt.
