Power and Hesitation TSBs - FIXED problem

Hey all,

A while ago I posted a question here about problems I was having with spark knocking in my 02 Max. I was directed to the following web site:

http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/

where I looked at 2 TSBs : NTB03-022 and NTB03-023. These TSBs described almost exactly the problem I was having (in addition to the spark knock). I took the car in to my dealer with the 2 TSBs and sure enough, they determined that my MAF sensor was faulty, which was causing the timing to be off by 1 degree, which was causing my engine problems. They ordered and installed a new MAF sensor, and reprogrammed the ECU as specified in the TSB.

I am happy to report that not only is the spark knock and hesitation gone, but the engine is noticeably more responsive, and idles smooth as silk (as it did when it was new).

I encourage anyone experiencing this problem to download the 2 TSBs mentioned above, and go to your dealer. The ECU upgrade alone is worth it - my car needed a new MAF as well, but it was all under warranty.

These TSBs also apply to some 03 Maximas. Again, thanks to the folks here at Maxima.org, I was able to get the info I needed to get my problem solved, and walk in to the service department as an informed customer.

Good stuff man! Did they run your VIN? If so, they should have been able to tell you if you were eligible for the transverse link recall and crank/cam sensor recalls. These are both done free of charge as well, however the only difference between these two, and the ones you had done, is that leaving these two things alone, you might get into an accident.

I don't know if they "ran my vin" or not. I already had the transverse link recall done a while ago. What is the crank/cam sensor recall? I haven't seen that one listed anywhere.

And what is going on with this forum? Isn't it supposed to send email when someone replies to a thread? That hasn't been working for months.
