what do you mean "spread on an 02 maxima?"
take off the 3 bolts off each side, put the plates on, hand tighten the bolts back on, slide the strut bar onto the plates on each side, tighten everything down

From the Pics i've seen of the otto, only one side is adjustable and it's via a sliding hole. I don't think you want to do much in terms of adjusting. Just lock downd the bolts where they want to be natuallly so the bar does not move once they are tight. The otto looks like a "no brainer" to me. The spreading thing you are talking about is probably a term you've heard related to FSTB's that have an adjustabe bolt on both sides. Doesn't look like Otto does that, so you have an even easier job.
