I'm currently debating between three options for powering on my DDE's (to be installed this weekend):
1. Come on with parking lights via "add-a-tap"
2. Come on with 12V switched power (on at all times like a daytime running light) - but hooked up where?
3. Come on via a switch in cabin

So what did you guys choose? Are there other creative options I'm overlooking? Vote up top and spit out the details!

EDIT: I'm dumb tonight.. I thought your were talking about fog rewiring, not DDE tapping. I have mine tapped into the parking lights via an "add-on" tap.

I have them come on with my taillights. Easier to wire than to the parking lights.

Woah, that's gotta look pretty ghetto to passers by when your DDE's flicker on and off each time you tap your brake! j/k - I follow. What wire did you tap?

Im planning on wiring my DDEs to the running lights but also wiring a kill switch in the cabin so I can shut them off if I want to.

No.... think he meant it turns on with the tail lights at night only when the headlights or parking lights are on.

I ran the trigger wire onto the cabin and connected it to a toggle switch. Power came from the rear of the cig lighter. I had previously attached a power connection to the back of the lighter for my XM radio. I tapped into that connection.

Works well since all I have to do is get into the car and put the key in, BOOM on go the eyes. Toggle and I can turn them off. Having them on with the runners would be my second choice.

Igor - are you happy and set now? No email (server not working last couple of days).

To all of you, there are 800 ways on your cars (way more than any other car I've ever seen).

The easiest is that while you have them taken apart is to connect the parking light wire that gives them 12V for just running lights and leave the 6V for the blinkers. Then you can switch on your DDEs, and when the orange is removed, it's a cleaner look.
