I am wondering if any of you 02-03er's have bought a repair Manual CDROM on eBay? I know originals go for $250 new, but these guys are selling for 99cents (w/7.99 shipping) and $10 (w/ free shipping).

This particular seller, I e-mailed him and asked specifically if these were "burned copies". No reply as of yet.

If any of you have bought one, and it works great, please let me know who the seller was on eBay, and I will buy from that seller.

I am so curious about this.

Thanks!

I didn't buy from him I bought from the guy who sells for $10 shipped, this guy is .099 and $8 shipping.

They are burned copies and if either of these guys get reported they will be taken off EBay.

BTW It takes up 51 megs of the CD's space. By comparison my 4th Gen manual takes up 22 meg.

Well, ya, not sure what they are really worth, but it has it all in there and its cheaper than the paper one by a long shot.

What I am doing is just printing out the pages I really use all the time, looks just like my expensive 4th Gen paper one when its printed.

I have never owned a car without the FSM, a wealth of info. Even if you only look at 2% of it.

Great resource.

Just to clarify, even the real ones are burned. The only thing authenticate about them is the top of the CD makes it look like it was manufactured since it it doesn't have a stick on or hand written label. However, it is really just printed on.

This is my definition of a "burned copy". This is one that has been copied from the original and is pirated as a commercial CD.

I wrote the A33 Maxima Manual on myself.

I have seen this too. One offerer on ebay has 10 or so CD roms that he offers. They are all for imports. Saab, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Honda, BMW, Mercedes.

I sent him about 3 emails asking him about which publisher is the info from. Of course, he wouldn't reply. So for guys that have bought them, are they Chiltons, Haynes, or someone else?

That would really effect my decision whether or not to buy one or all of them.

Thanks

Well, I'm not saying they were hand carved, but they weren't produced in the same fashion as the typical audio CD from Best Buy either.

No it wasn't copied from the book.

It is the electronic copy and the book is actually made from it.

If you had read the whole post you would have understood that it is a pirated version that is being sold on EBay.

I noticed one of the sellers is from Jersey. Doesn't surprise me. Probably how he got info on how to remove the headlights. Still a good deal though.

I wouldn't buy it. I bought one from the same seller. It's a burned copy. He said it's from the Nissan OEM CD. When I tried it on my computer, it's doesn't work, doesnt do anything. It's useless, but good for a coaster.

Seems like since I posted this, people are buying these. I never got a reply from the seller of the one in the Link above in my 1st post on this. Imagine that.

Thown off Ebay. HA! I bought a CD from the same guy who has this current listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=34229

In his listing it says "If you bid, this will be your legal agreement/understanding that you will obey the copyright law of the Nissan material."

I made the stupid assumption that this meant it was a real OEM copy and the warning was there to tell you not to make false copies. So I bid and won. When it arrived I found it was a burned copy. I emailed him back demanding a refund. Never got any reply. Sent another message that I'd leave negative feedback and flag this to Ebay since it is "officially" against their policy to sell pirated software. Again, no reply.

So I did leave negative negative feedback and filled out the form Ebay has to report listings against their policies. Only received the automated reply acknlowledging my submission. I assumed he'd be pulled from Ebay.

However, I find he continues to list these items. I flagged him to Ebay several times but obviously they have no interest in stopping this. I've even emailed to Nissan and supplied a link to his listing along with the return address on the CD he sent. Nothing from their end as far as I know.

The only change I've seen in his listing is the addition of "The seller holds no responsiblity of buyer's actions." I guess he thinks this covers his copyright violations (It doesn't).

I guess this says that the odds of you getting caught for selling bogus software has to be pretty low if you can be this brazen about it.
