Sunroof opening and more...

Hi all,

I have just bought a used '03 6spd maxima (20k miles) and while I really enjoy the car's looks and performance, I had a couple questions about some minor issues on the car:

1) When I tilt the sunroof(not slide open), the opening seems very small(about an inch at the most). Is this normal?

2) I saw quite some people complaining about the shifter and I also feel that it is very difficult to do some smooth shifting...I tought that it was because I wasn't used to it, but it seems like there is almost no way to shift good...my old 323 seemed easier to shift so I'm a little disapointed.

3) After 2 weeks of ownership, the left speakers don't seem to work anymore when using a cd (bose 6cd)...I'll go check it at the dealer, but still feel that it's not a good sign.

4) The dash seems to crack when hitting a pothole and there is some wind noise at high speed somewhere in the rear door area. Can it be fixed?

Anyhow, any feedback would be appreciated to make me feel better about my purchase...always wanted a 6spd max, but didn't know there was so many glitches for a car that price.

as for the sound problem, there is a TSB about the bose radio. Take it to a dealer to have the radio replaced.

Congrats on your purchase

1) Yes
2) Redline MT-90 www.summitracing.com It'll take about a week or so to work, but it does work very well.
3) TSB, I'm having mine done next week.
4) Mine does the same thing, but it's not too bad. As for the wind noise, it's coming from the rear window and yes there's a TSB out for it too.

Good luck and congrats on your purchase.

Some have said that Subframe Connectors will make the car feel more solid when going over potholes.

Thanks all for your quick reply.

Just called the dealer and he told me that they only reinstall refurbished audio head units. I wonder why they can't just order a new one. I'm quite afraid that the new unit won't last much longer than the one I already have...forgot to mention that the cd player is also skipping randomly from time to time...
