I tried changing the tranny fluid with Redline MT-90 and was disappointed to find out that with the 2000 redesign Nissan put some bracket too close to the drain bolt. I couldn't use a closed end wrench because of that, and with an open end wrench I saw the bolt starting to strip, so I stopped. If anyone has changed their tranny fluid, please tell me what kind of tool you used. Thanks!

I saw his pictures, but he didn't use the correct drain plug. I'm afraid that I may be leaving some old fluid behind if I use a bolt off the transmission housing.

Did you have failure due to the fluid change or was it about gone anyway?

He said MT-90 which is for a manual tranny. I think the filter, etc... you are referring to is for the Autos...

Still waiting for an answer....

So has anyone changed their tranny fluid properly and if so, how did you loosen the drain bolt? Guys, I would appreciate your feedback.

Yo_its_ok, the drain bolt is on the lower back of the transmission housing and it's a 12mm bolt. My problem as I stated previously is that with the 2000+ models Nissan put a metal bracket too close to the bolt so a closed end wrench can't be used. Thanks for the answer anyway.

Trans. filter??

A dealer tells me there is not trans. filter to change, there is a screen and all that is needed is to change the fluid. Is this true? By some of the questions, changing the fluid doesn't appear to be to easy.

Thnaks in advance.
