I have a 2000 Maxima with about 50,000 miles. Early in the morning, my car doesn't pick up more than 5 or 10 mph for a good 8-15 seconds or so. There is some seevere hesitation going on as the car literally seems to be stuttering forward. After I get out of work at about 4 pm, the same problem occurs. I now even warm up the car for a good 30 seconds or so, nevermind that the temperature is always 80-100 degrees where I live. I took my car in for fuel injection service at 36,000 at a non-dealership shop. Perhaps they didn't do a good job.
At what milege are you all changing your plugs? I've been using Amsoil for the last 35,000 miles or so, changing the oil and filter after every 6,000.
Could it be the fuel filter? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

My car used to do the same thing when I first started it. I would have to let it sit and rev it a couple times before I could put it in gear. When I put my intake on last week I cleaned out the throttle body and it seems to have gone away I just sprayed carb/fuelinjector cleaner in the throttle body and wipe it down till all the black was gone.

not to insult anyone's intelligence, but I thought warming up your car was the general consensus. I am not concerned about the gas consumed when my car is warming up. on top of that, even if I was in a rush, I wouldn't "push" my car until it reached normal operating temperature.
I just picked up my car from the dealship today, have been having the same symptoms, they claim that the ingnition coils are the likely cuprit. To get to the bottom of this, before going to the dealer I installed new plugs. The #6 plug's electrode was completely gone, suggesting detonation and misfiring from a bad coil; I have replaced just this coil to see if this doesn't solve the problem, stay tuned....
