I think I know what smell you are talking about. People have told me that the smell is from a cat. going bad. This could explain the smell and loss of power from blockage. do you have any mods?

ive Heard that the 2000 coils can be problematic. Go to the dealer and see what they say. Hopefully you still have some warrantee left. Ask the dealer about the TSB on the coils.

Ive also heard that if your coil packs have a silver dot on them that they are the new ones that dont seem to have problems. You could check those.?

Good luck

Here let me be more specific...
It drives very well untill some times it will lose alot of power and you will feel alot of vibartion in the shifter and on in the car from the engine.. And thats when the SES light goes on... But if you drive it off it works fine again.. and it just happens when it feels like happen..

One more question is there a TSB for the coils on the max.. I hread there was

Get the computer scanned, it should have stored a code sayin what the problem was, and yes autozone should be able to do it, usually it's free.

im having the same problem i know the smell he is reffering too, it was when you push the car hard and then you slow down a bad smell comes in (like rotten eggs). Also the car will rumble like if it is going to turn off .I took it to autozone and they pulled this code:P1320 coil miss fire. So im guessing thats your problem as well. Talk to DaveB about this he will hook you up.

Note: I have the same car as well .

It's 100% your CAT i had the same problem with mine, during cold days I had hard time getting the car started, and when i hit the gas hard it had no power and it smelled like rotten eggs. And the oxygen sensor gives u that SES light.
Change the CAT and the problem will be solved

They are the same engine, but that also means that they have the same coils. If you replace with these coils you may just have the same problem down the road.

New coils are a different part so it wouldent just be a temp fix.

I had the same problem as well. Car shuddering at stops, no power, smell of rotten eggs. It ended up being a misfire, they replaced a coil, it was fine. Now it's starting to act up again and the smell of rotten eggs is still there. I'm not sure if it's more coils, or it's the CAT like others say. Either of these covered under the 60k drivetrain warranty on a 2k?

Uh... cylinder misfire usually means bad coils. If it's the coils, you owe me $50. I take paypal or MO. Personal checks need to wait one week to clear.
