Rough Ride!!!

03' SE
KYB GR2 and Tein S Tech, stock tire size!
Ride is rough as hell! My Civic w/ stock shocks/one inch Tokico drop spring and 40 series tires is smoother!
What shock/spring setup would ride better! Maybe not as low!
When I bought the car w/ 40K it was rough so I figured shocks could be replaced! Ride is not much better! So I wonder is it too low? Could an Illumina/Eibach Pro Kit be better!
Please help I love the car but it almost makes me sick to drive it because it is so rough!!!!
If ride can't be any better than this, it is for sale!

Eibach gives a rough ride from what I've heard.

H&R's probably give the best ride/performance. Eibachs are a tad stiffer and handle a tad better.

I have eibachs and am happy with the ride. It is stiffer than stock, but not too bad.

Did you cut your bumpstops? I didnt and my ride is similar to what youre describing. My car has gotten progressively harsher with the Tein\Gr-2 setup. No doubt this setup does the job of cornering and lowering, however it feels very unstable over uneven surfaces at higher speeds. Seems like the shocks and springs absorb the impact to a certain extent, then transfers the rest to the body... There are times when my car will jump from a rough impact, it dips and rises with the uneveness. I expected a rougher ride, but it has become an issue of instability.

Anyways, i'll just have to put up with it until I decide to replace the setup.

Most of your poor ride is coming from the KYB's. They are firm struts and don't ride to nicely when coupled with lowering springs. The Tein drop is a bit much too and you'll get more ride comfort back if you come up slightly.

For a really smooth lowered ride throw in a set of H&R, Eibach or Progress springs and couple them with Tokico Illumina struts. Those combos ride very nice and give your car a clean, not slammed look.

Um...isn't the s-tech about a 2+ inch drop? What do you expect when you eliminate 2 inches of suspension travel AND put on a stiffer spring?
It's pretty well-known around here (just read all the posts) that the S-tech and Eibach are stiff as hell.....as are most coilovers....

I'm getting H&R/Illumina setut, as all my "research" says that's the best ride, although the drop isn't necesarrily all that much....

Interestingly enough, at the time I purchased my springs and struts it was the Tein\KYB combo that was recieving heavy praise. Now it seems the H&R and Illumina combo is the preferred setup. Just curious, will the harsh ride have any detrimental effects on the welds in my car?
