Just got back from the junkyard!

(Copied to the DC forum also)
Well me, Jason (aka soonerfan) and his girl went down to Brandywine junkyard (in Upper Marlboro, MD) this morning to check out the rumored 3 5th gens there. They were there, but 1 had fire damage to most of the car, 1 was really stripped (and had been wrapped around a tree apparently) and the other had some goodies for us. Of interest to some, the 5th gen we were stripping HAS black leather!! Front seats appeared to be in good condition (dirty though) and the bottom of the back seat was AWOL......

By the way, there were a TON of 4th-gens and alot of 3rd gens there too so you old-school max guys should hit it up if you can
I managed to get (for a total of $50):
-all mounts, bearings, dustboots etc. for both sets of front springs/struts (I plan on building a 2nd set of springs/struts when I get the aftermarket stuff so I can bolt my OEM's on quick in the winter with no spring compressor)
-front license plate holder/bracket (the dealer just had the plates screwed to the front bumper when I got it...). Never installed, it was in the trunk of the wreck still with hardware bag attached!
-Rear cig lighter assembly (for someone who asked for it)
-the score: perfect-condition trunk cargo net (still in its protective bag) buried in the trunk of the wreck. I saw it 2 seconds before Jason and he was bitter!

Jason managed to pick up a couple of spare coils at 25 bucks apeice....

Love the junkyards you can take the cars apart yourself, and thanks to Jason's lovely girlfriend for carrying my 30lb. tool box around the junkyard! You are lucky to have a girl who will go to the track AND the junkyard with you!

I'm probably not going back there for a while...its a ways from where I live - but go into the DC-area forum and read the threads about it there - there are several guys who live near that yard that might be able to hook you up w/the parts - try Dontae or Spirilis or a couple other guys

I dunno, nice to have when you're carrying groceries I guess. I carry alot of stuff in the trunk, so I'm sure I'll figure out a good way to use it. What's so nice about it? It was essentially free, since I expected to pay over $50 for the other stuff in the first place....

It's getting harder to find junkyards that actually let you pull parts.

Great finds Irish! I had no luck today. By the time I completed my latest suspension project it was already 1 and the junkyards were closing up shop for the afternoon. After swapping back to my OEM struts temporarily this morning, I'm now inspired to go hunting for this week.

Oh, and the cargo net is great for groceries. I use mine to haul detailing crap and my tripod. What's nice is you never hear things sliding around in the trunk.

I love junkyards, especially the ones that let you wonder through their junk, hehe.
Found a local junkyard that has an 02 max with all the interior burned. Hoping to get the hids from the car.
What would be a reasonable price for the set? What are some ways I can lower the price and negotiate?
THANKS

I use mine when I shop at Wally World. I can put at least 5 plastic bags of groceris inside the net. The groceries stay put until I get home.
