CAI Installed

Well I got my Place Racing CAI yesterday and took this morning to install it. Well it was easy sailing taking out the intake and battery. Cutting the hole was kinda a PITA. Once i had the hole cut i hate to position the pipes. Well that took me about 45 minutes to get everything lined up. After that it was cake to put it back together. No SES light and a nice sucking sound. I wont comment on the butt dyno, but the intake itself is quiet until ya get on it then it sounds real mean. and now that i modifed my car to eat more air, now i have to make it crap more out.....

Nice intake. Any pics? You should've went with FC or Berk. Easier imnstall and more power increase.

yea... FC or berk will give you more power..... if you live in siberia. The thing about PR is that it's a REAL CAI.

Ok, before I go through the trouble of installing a new intake, and risking the MAF, does anyone have any real proof that the FC or Berk really improve performance??? I know they make a nice sound, but whats the real truth about performance gains, if any????

I thought about getting a berk intake or Frankencar, but i figured for a few more dollars i could get a REAL CAI with the option to have just a WAI if i choose, it only takes 5 minutes to do the swap. I had a midpipe and stillen intake in my 97 and liked it very much, i just wanted to try the CAI to see how that is. The sound is different from a WAI also, i drove with the midpipe and filter only before i installed the whole CAI and i like the sound with the filter in the fender much better, its quiet unless you jump on it.
now about power, well I dont have solid proof, but think about it, you are helping the car to breathe better.... so more air + more fuel = more power.... probly only like 5 hp or so but still more. I know people have dyno'd and showed gains from intakes and as long as you dont bathe the filter in oil when cleaning it, your MAF should be fine.
