Opposition to cleaning Throttle Body

Guys,

I know a lot of people have had success with cleaning their throttle body and that this isn't a new topic. However, I was surprised to hear from my local mod guru not to clean my TB. He said that cleaning it may damage the film on the inside causing more problems. Is there any truth to this?

Thanks.

if that protective film would actually work, mebby we wouldnt' hafta clean the TB so much. That film or coating is made so the gunk wouldn't stick...but its not all that great. So just clean it.
