odometer/speedometer prob.

just purchased a used 2000 GLE w/52K miles. Car is mint condition, but this morning (first commute in), the speedometer started bouncing from 0 to actual speed when i got up to 65 or so. It then kept going on and off while driving (if I was above 60... Ok below 60). Carfax and Autocheck certified the car as having no odometer issues (rollback/tampering), so I'm not so worried about it, but, has anyone ever experienced this? Any ideas as to what problem could be or how to fix it?

Love the car by the way!

Sounds like a possibly bad speed sensor.

thanks... i will have the speed sensor checked out at nissan. I noticed when cleaning the rims that there was something hanging down by the middle of the undercarriage.... looks like a wire. it's towards the front of the car but in the middle... near TRANSMISSION... maybe it's the speedometer wire???? Is there more then 1 wire connected from speedometer to transmission?

Thanks again... you guys are real helpful (at least putting my mind at ease that it's not a bad tranny or something).
