Well we went to the track today, had to melt the snow and water off the track and dig off the old rubber in the burnout box from last year but we were there.

ejj (Eric) came up from Buffalo and we had a great day. https://maxima.org/forums/tires-wheels/299577-please-read-bolt-pattern-question-between-max-99-camaro-v6.html

We made 13 runs (DSMJim and I) these are my times and believe me it started off very disappointing and I almost went home feeling a little defeated.

Track was very slick for almost the first 10 runs. I was almost ready to give up at a 13.9 until Eric tried my slicks so I went up against him with street tires, he wupped me bad but I still did a 14.0 on streets so I decided to put the slicks back on and give it one more go.

Bingo, 13.6 and a couple more to back it up 5 mins apart. So I went home a happy camper. This is exactly 1 second faster than my 4th Gen N/A and I have owned the car just over a month.

Another factory freak? Is is possible to have 3 in a row? If you believe that then I have some $%^&(*) to sell you.

1. 16.8@97 Street Tires (Slick track, spun most of the way)
2. 15.3@98 "
3. 14.1@101 Slicks (Premature 1-2 shift because of spin)
4. 14.1@101 "
5. 14.2@99 "
6. 14.1@100 "
7. 14.0@100 "
8. 13.9@101 "
9. 13.9@101 "
10. 14.0@102 Street Tires (ejj was trying out my slicks)
11. 13.6@101 Slicks
12. 13.6@101 "
13. 13.7@101 "

Next step, my 2 stage nitrous install.

BTW The adjacent lane #21 was DSMJim (my Son) who ran a PB of 12.5 for the day, so we all went home happy.

With my car coming out of the hole sideways, bouncing off the revlimiter back-fireing like a **** lol... And still pulled a 1.81 60ft on street tires (gotta love AWD)

Early on it was sooo cold that my car did a 45* slide out of the bucket and I was looking at the wall though part of 1st lol.. Later on it started to hook up and I was getting down into the lower 1.8's. I have pulled 1.74 on a warm day so 1.81 on a crappy day was not bad. Still I was spinning all 4 though all of 1st and chriping 2nd (which is hard with my car, really hard)

Either way it was pretty cool to goto the track with my dad (Jime) and Ejj and have some fun, too bad no other maxima guys came out. Was pretty surprised when I crossed the line and Jime's car wasn't that far behind me. Was thinking, hmm.. either I'm running slow or he is running fast. Glad to see it was the later..

Good day!

This was wierd for me, not knowing you guys and before I read the whole thread, I'm looking at the 60' time in the left lane and I'm thinking damn, that has to be AWD, prolly a DSM.... Sure 'nuff it was! My other car is a modded '95 Talon TSi. I spend all my free time here and on dsmtalk.com. I got the Max when my daughter was born. I couldn't get rid of the Talon, these cars are so easy to get fast and so much fun. That's a great clutch-frying 60' BTW

Hahah, yeah. I'm gonig on clutch #3 shortly in 16,000km hahah.. I use a two-step revlimiter at 5500rpm and slip the clutch out, but today it was blazing the tires all through 1st. I normally pull 1.7 60ft's but today was just too cold for my tires to grip no matter what.

I spend my other time on DSMTuners.com (was on talk a lot too, but mostly tuners now..) Hopefully I'll get it down to a 12.0 on pump gas this year with my EMS (once it's installed and tuned).

Yes its an auto. Pretty much the same mods as Blubyu2k2 (Matt). I told him I was coming after him if I didn't run his times.

The Max held true to form and came through. I am sure it has a little more on a good day but I am very happy and a great start now for the nitrous install which is coming this week.

I don't think 11's will be too hard to achieve with this car, considering I did 12.1 with my 4th Gen with an N/A time of 14.6.

I've heard of tuners but never checked it out, I'll have to head over because I've noticed traffic has died down a bit on dsmtalk.

My only claim-to-fame is that I now have 138k hard driven miles on the original motor and my crank end-play is still under .007". I think I have a factory freak 7 bolt

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! This is great news. Now all the haters, people tell us "your track is just fast" or "your car is just a factory freak" can now eat crow.

Now where is the almighty Dave B? Is he going to come in here and tell Jime that his track has fubar clocks too?

Matt your header install post helped as well as much of the other stuff I picked up here on the 5th Gen forum, I am just following what you guys have already done.

Here is the video of the 13.67 run, the previous one of the 13.60 isn't focused properly so I won't show it. ejj (Eric) wasn't drinking its just zoomed in a bit too much.

Most are listed in my profile, the exhaust and intake, dr mod, trans cooler. the rest is just weight reduction and my wheels (Kosei K1's 15x7 with 22x8x15 M/T slicks). Poly Race Seats (Summit), Tokico Illumina's.

Even ran the original plugs, haven't had time to change them yet.

Psst, don't show this to anyone, its a secret between you and me.

I haven't weighed the new catback yet so it shows 0. The original weighed 38 lbs but I didn't put it in because without the weight of the new one it would screw up the formula.

"Awesome to hear, but I just want to let you know your track is fast and the clocks have to be off. That is out of the ordinary for your Auto to run fast"

Considering you and I have the same exact mods and run the same exact times and mph it has to tell something for all the know it alls.

Way to go Jim this is what I was hoping to see from my brother car

I might be wrong but I think he meant bumper supports. His driver and passenger seats are a form of racing seat that can be bought from summit I believe. Its nothing famcy like a sparco but it gets the job done.

Same mods as I do. Header, exhaust, form of intake, UDP and a lot of weight reduction. For a while most thought my car was a freak b/c it was running 13.6's-13.7's but now this proves that any 02-03 Auto with similar weight and mods can do the exact same thing whatever track it may be within reason.

My PB's were done on slicks at rockingham, but I run 13.9's all day on street tires and an occasional 13.8. At fayetteville I run even faster but I haven't ran there this season with my current setup. I figure once I go back to the stock ECU and do a few free/cheap mods the car could possibly hit a 13.4 on slicks. I have run a 13.7@99.9 at fayetteville on my 18's last October. So its easily attainable to run 13's in an 02-03 just takes lost of track practice and the right setup. Form of intake (GAB for me), UDP, headers, and b pipe + good driver = 13 sec n/a 02-03.

We probably should go there and run some so Dave B can go ahead and call it a fast track and explain to the world how their clocks are wrong.

Man ! Those seats are hideous! But they get the job done and theyre dirt cheap. Im not sure if I could make the jump with those.

Do you only leave those in for track day?

Congats on your new best time!
