Hey Flip, are you talking about the A.A.C. VALVE, part # 237812Y011? If so how hard is the install? Mine went bad and I'm about to order one. If it's not too difficult I'd rather do it myself and avoid install charges.

no im talking about the throttle position sensor its the little black box attached to the side of the throttle body. Its just 2 screws and 2 plugs that the easy part. I want to know the adjustments that need to be made to it after you install it, how do you tune it.

You can drive to the nearest dealer and have them peform an "Idle Air Volume Learning Procedure" with a Consult-II.

If you figure out a way withOUT the dealer PLEASE please let me know.

PRE-CONDITIONING MUST BE PERFORMED FIRST:
Before performing “Idle Air Volume Learning”, make sure that all of
the following conditions are satisfied.
Learning will be cancelled if any of the following conditions are
missed for even a moment.
I Battery voltage: More than 12.9V (At idle)
I Engine coolant temperature: 70 - 99°C (158 - 210°F)
I PNP switch: ON
I Electric load switch: OFF
(Air conditioner, headlamp, rear window defogger)
On vehicles equipped with daytime light systems, set lighting
switch to the 1st position to light only small lamps.
I Cooling fan motor: Not operating
I Steering wheel: Neutral (Straight-ahead position)
I Vehicle speed: Stopped
I Transmission: Warmed-up
For A/T models with CONSULT-II, drive vehicle until “FLUID
TEMP SE” in “DATA MONITOR” mode of “A/T” system indicates
less than 0.9V.
For A/T models without CONSULT-II and M/T models, drive
vehicle for 10 minutes.

According to the FSM withOUT a CONSULT-II
How To Perform Idle Air Volume Learning procedure:
1. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 1 second.
2. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Check that all items listed under the topic “PRE-CONDITIONING”
(previously mentioned) are in good order.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Start the engine and let it idle for at least 30 seconds.
7. Disconnect throttle position sensor harness connector (brown),
then reconnect it within 5 seconds.
8. Wait 20 seconds.
9. Make sure that idle speed is within specifications. If not, the
result will be incomplete. In this case, find the cause of the
problem by referring to the NOTE below.
10. Rev up the engine two or three times. Make sure that idle
speed and ignition timing are within specifications.

Idle speed M/T: 625±50 rpm
A/T: 700±50 rpm (in “P” or “N” position)
Ignition timing M/T: 15°±5° BTDC
A/T: 15°±5° BTDC (in “P” or “N” position)

NOTE:
If idle air volume learning cannot be performed successfully,
proceed as follows:
1) Check that throttle valve is fully closed.
2) Check PCV valve operation.
3) Check that downstream of throttle valve is free from
leakage.
4) Adjust closed throttle position switch and reset memory.
(Refer to Basic Inspection, EC-111.)
5) When the above three items check out OK, engine component
parts and their installation condition are questionable.
Check and eliminate the cause of the problem.
It is useful to perform “TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS — SPECIFICATION
VALUE”, EC-143.
6) If any of the following conditions occur after the engine
has started, eliminate the cause of the problem and perform
“Idle air volume learning” all over again:
I Engine stalls.
I Erroneous idle.
I Blown fuses related to the IACV-AAC valve system.

TPS adjustment Procedure:
1. Disconnect closed throttle position switch harness connector.
2. Check continuity between closed throttle position switch terminals 4 and 5(left two with tab on top) under the following conditions.

-Insert the 0.05 mm (0.0020 in) and 0.15 mm (0.0059 in) feeler gauge alternately between the stopper and throttle drum
as shown in the figure(between stop and drum screw).

“Continuity should exist” while inserting 0.05 mm (0.0020 in) feeler gauge.
“Continuity should not exist” while inserting 0.15 mm (0.0059 in) feeler gauge.

ADJUSTMENT THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH CLOSED POSITION-1
1. Loosen throttle position sensor fixing bolts.
2. Insert 0.05 mm (0.0020 in) feeler gauge between stopper and throttle drum as shown in the figure.
3. Turn throttle position sensor body counterclockwise until continuity does not exist between terminals 4 and 5.

ADJUSTMENT THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH CLOSED POSITION-2
1. Temporarily tighten sensor body fixing bolts as follows.

- Gradually move the sensor body clockwise and stop it when the continuity comes to exist, then temporarily
tighten sensor body fixing bolts.

2. Make sure two or three times that the continuity exists when the throttle valve is closed and continuity does not exist
when it is opened.
3. Remove 0.05 mm (0.0020 in) feeler gauge then insert 0.15 mm (0.0059 in) feeler gauge.
4. Make sure two or three times that the continuity does not exist when the throttle valve is closed.
5. Tighten throttle position sensor.
6. Check the continuity again.
Continuity does not exist while closing the throttle valve.

RESET THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR IDLE POSITION MEMORY
NOTE:
Always warm up engine to normal operating temperature. If engine is cool, the throttle position sensor idle position
memory will not be reset correctly.
1. Remove feeler gauge.
2. Reconnect throttle position switch harness connector.
3. Start engine.
4. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
5. Stop engine. (Turn ignition switch “OFF”.)
6. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 5 seconds.
7. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7, 20 times.

CHECK (1ST TRIP) DTC
1. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
2. Rev (2,000 to 3,000 rpm) two or three times.
3. Make sure no (1st trip) DTC is displayed with CONSULT-II or GST.

If no, DTC proceed.
Check IDLE.
Perform Idle Air Volume Learning(ABOVE post).
Check IDLE again.

If the dealer does it for you is it still covered by the 60K power train warranty. I got a SES P0507 code which means idling too fast.

How do you know you need a new AAC valve? Are you the one that clean your throttle body a few days ago and couldn't get it to start. What exactly is it doing cause it's possible that all you have to do is clean it. Or you may in fact end up needing a new one.

From looking at the FSM, if you have a feeler gauge and a digital volt-ohm meter you could do the adjustments yourself. Just follow the procedure that was posted. The one where you don't need the Consult. Otherwise you may want to inquire at a dealer. I would guess that at most they would charge you an hours labor, around $75.
