'02 Trani Fluid Change
'02 Trani Fluid Change
I need to change the trani fluid in my '02 wife-O-matic. I'm thinking it would be better to take it to a place that can completely flush the whole thing as opposed to just draining the reservoir and filling up the difference (approx 4 quarts.)
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Also, while I'm at it, it seems like it would be a good idea to use some high-end synthetic fluid (Neo or similar). However, if I'm going to do a complete flush which usually takes 20-24 quarts, I would be wasting a lot of expensive fluid since the trani/torque converter only holds something like 12 quarts. What's the best way to do this?
Thanks.

A complete flush doesnt take 24qts. It takes no more than 12quarts. You change the fluid why sucking in new fluid through the cooler lines and spewing out the old fluid. You stop when new fluid comes out. You have now in a sense flushed the tranny out with the new fluid.

Thats what I said before to do it through the cooler lines.
