Raced a 99 Audi A6

Last night after coming back from Applebees, me and my friend were on the same street at the stoplight and we decided to race. He has a auto 99 Audi A6 and I have an auto 02 max GLE, both cars completely stock as of performance. From the stop to about 50 mph i was about 1 car ahead of him and then we went from a 25 mph roll to about 60 and that time i was still a car ahead of him. I didn't even step on the pedal all the way and I didn't break torque. He's a pretty good driver so I know he couldn't have lost because he was a bad driver. I thought i he would of taken me from the line since he does have AWD and 220hp. The ground was still wet, but my Turanza's didn't spin too much, I thought I would of gotten crushed from the line. Does anyone know if this is how the race should of been, or did i just get lucky?

Stock A6 is not that fast.....AWD has 2 major disadvantages and one advantage in terms of dragging...

advantage: better grip off the line
disadvantages: AWD steals power from the engine and it also weighs alot

that must hav been a slow race

by the way, IBTL

Try that with a 2.7T and then you'll have a race.

2.7T vs. even an 00-01 maxima

2.7T = 250hp, 3830lbs (15.3lb/hp)
2k max = 222hp, 3200lbs (14.4lb/hp)

so based on hp to weight ratio alone the max still wins. Then factor in that AWT results in less hp to the wheels, and the maxima wins by more.

There was an A6 2.7T running at the track one time when I went. He flew off the line, and was gettin mid to high 14's at around 92-93 MPH. Because of the AWD they can get ya from a stop, but from a roll, they're a lil less ballsy than the 3.5 maxima. Also, the one at the track I believe had a bit of work (at least a BOV), but that might have been it, I didnt get to talk with him. Still, with a few $ put into it, those can make serious hp. The turbo engines are fairly easy to increase hp.

Perhaps because a run with a weak A6 hardly qualifies as street "racing"?
