Clutch problems

My car was bought used with 45k on it. The previous user must have rode the clutch or drove like an idiot because when the car is in it's power band it seems to slip (RPMs move but car doesn't accelerate appropriately) How much would it cost for them to replace or fix the clutch? My warranty apparently doesn't cover the clutch.

I say few hundred for labor. I say w/ the money you spend on buying a new OEM clutch, buy ACT clutch. Invest on a flywheel too.

Yea, while your in there, you might as well spend some extra $ and get equipment that will last longer and is stonger than OEM. Labor is probably 400-600 depending on the shop.

I think nissan charges about $750 to replace with OEM.

FYI: When car and driver did their long term test on a 2k max, they wore clutch out by 40k. Not hard to do.

The only thing is, is that when I floor the throttle the clutch doesn't slip. It only slips at about 50-75% throttle. Could it still be the clutch?

Try this.

Go about 45mph in 5th gear, slam on gas pedal all the way. If your RPM rises fast but your speedometer doesn't, your clutch is slipping.

The clutch also gives a pretty distinct smell when it is slipping. Hard to describe, but have you noticed a new odor?

I've done this, it doesn't happen in 5th gear.

There is NO smell whatsoever.

Both of these make me think it's some other problem, read my thread of Berk Intake Installed #2 and it explains the problem in its most recent context. I don't think it's the clutch, but what else could it be? What could explain a sudden power loss that makes me nearly fall out of my seat?

I guess I would consider cleaning it, although I'm not too sure if that will fix my problem. But say I put my stock airbox on and take it to the dealer. I have an extended warranty from API, maybe they'll replace my MAF. ??

I have an even bigger feeling that it is not my clutch, hence the creation of my last thread that I hope is not ignored. The problem can best be explained by stating it as a power loss. The car just loses power at certain RPMs, I've explained it before. Perhaps its a sensor issue.
