Service Light going on?
Service Light going on?
I tried to do a search for this but something wouldn't allow me to view the results.
I have a 2002 Maxima and the service light has turned on twice. I looked it up in the manual and said it was an emission issue, probably because the gas cap wasn't tightened enough. Well, I went ahead and tightened it and the light is still on after driving it for 2 days.
Anyone come across this problem? Is this something I should get checked out?

You know, my service light came on too. After I plugged up the computer to check it out, and after I got the work done, they had to clear the codes out. You may just want to take it in cause I'm not sure how to clear out those codes.
A couple of weeks ago my check engine light came on and i ignored it for about a month. Then I finally got around to taking it to the Nissan dealership. It turns out that something with my spark plugs broke an engine component and it cost me $700 to fix it. Then 2 days later it came back on so I took it back and they had to "reprogram the chip". But this time, Nissan payed the bill.

I just went to autozone after the dealer told me to leave the car til monday I said "f that".....autozone took 2 minutes to read the code and turns out it is P0171, which their computer said means I am running lean in bank 2 I think she said. In any case, after she read it the SES light is no longer on....the car still runs perfect (the same day the SES came on I replaced the MAF with the updated one and also cleaned the throttle body.)....so as far as I'm concerner all is well now
I was thinking that it could have to do with me using a tank of mid-grade fuel last week for a long trip......though seems wierd that I am running lean since I hear no knocking at all...
