Why is Nissan so hard to deal with ????
So my car thru the SES soon light. Checked it out with a code scanner to find it was the O2 sensor, upstream, bank 1. I go to Nissan to get a replacement only to find that there were 4 possible ones ?? Parts guy said he needs more info, to bring him in the VIN number. Next day I go back with the number and he says that he needs moe info HUH !!!! You already know that its the upstream sensor, bank 1 and have the VIN number. What else can you possibly need. He tells me he needs to know the color of the harness on the sensor, or better yet to bring it in so that he can match it up. Uhhh...if I take it off I wont be able to drive the car, so that's out of the question. Well he says to find out the color then and maybe then he can track it down. Decide to go to another dealer only to find this parts guy even more clueless than the first. He couldn't even tell me what side bank 1 was on, the front or towards the firewall. Geeez, you'd think they be able to be of more help.

The part number is on tsb: NTB02-051a , you can download it here: http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/
I took my car into the dealer yesterday for this problem, they replaced both bank 1 sensors and reprogrammed the ecu.

I bought mine used from an infiniti dealer and they said they will not do any work on it and to take it to nissan. i guess if you can find one that will work on it then great, but dont be surprised if they tell you to goto nissan

Well after a week long struggle was finally able to get the sensor. Ended up crawling underneath the car to try and identify it. When I told the parts guy which one it was he said that 99% of the time it's this one that goes bad (3 pin sensor with the black harness). Couldn't believe it was $175.00 though. Could only imagine what the dealer would charge to replace it. So this wekend will try and tackle the job myself. There's not a heck of a lot of room there so could be a bear to change.
Unrealii,
thanks for the list of TSB's. Unfortunately the one for the Oxygen Sensors was for the rear ones only. Good info to have for future problems though.
