what exactly is a TSB...

i went to my dealer today to get the hid theft kit put on and some data dots. i took the tsb off studmans website and when i told them about it they looked at me like i was crazy. then i proceeded to tell them that the headlight theft is a serious issue, just not yet in florida. they said well since its a TSB and not a recall, if we have the part you can pay for it and put it on your self. so i made them elaborate and they said a tsb is just a warning and the dealer doesn't have to do anything about it. if it were a recall then i should worry. i said ok thanks and left. i thought that a TSB means the dealer fixes it then bills nissan. has anyone got the hid theft kit and or data dots put on for free?

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin. In other words, it gives Nissan techs info/directions on how to fix certain common problems. Performing TSB work is no different than any other work. If your car is under warranty, the TSB (assuming you actually have the problem the TSB addresses) will be done at no cost to you. If not, if you want them to perform the work listed in the TSB, you gotta pay.

hopefully it doesn't b/c that would mean a hid theft epidemic in this part of the country. don't get me wrong, i would love to have the dealer install them so i can have a peace of mind. it's not 100% proof but at least a deterrent.
