A friend of mine at work did the front brake job on my Max today and I paid him to clean the calipers, resurface the rotors and paint the calipers and rotors. I did the rotors to get rid of the rust look. He also clearcoated the calipers too. I went down to Kragen and bought your basic black engine paint which he recommended and did his magic. What do you guys think?

I was told they wouldn't. The tech at my work did the same to his without any problems of rust.

The painted part wont rust. Just the pad contact area will rust as usual when it rains.

Looks good I also did mine with black enamel but the krylon high temp BBQ paint. i should put some clear coat like urs though cause it looks hot. Not to flashy either. BTW, is the top of the rotor also painted (the thin area that)?

I went to Kragen and bought "Clear" High temp engine paint. He painted the inside of the rotor too if you look closely.

i'm confused.... won't the paint come off of teh rotor when it comes into contact with the brakes when applied? doesn't it affect braking efficiency?

the pads do not come into full contact with the entire surface area of the rotors. Obviously the parts that do will come off, eventually leaving you a perfect circle of paint leftover

we sprayed the rotor first with high temp engine paint enamel.

after the paint dried we resurfaced the rotors to get that perfect circle

we then painted the calipers with the same paint and clear coated them

This paint can be bought at any auto parts store.

The brakes are phenominal. No squeaks at all.
