Fog Light Bulbs

To make a long story short, I have to replace my passenger side fog light assembly. I figured while I was at it, I would go ahead and replace both H3 bulbs. Some have recommended the PIAA Super Plasma 55-85W, but I read these give more of a bluish purple look. I have factory HID bulbs. What do you guys recommend to match the factory headlight color? Maybe PIAA Xtreme White 85w=135w? Thanks.

Checkout housecor's site:

He's using the super-plasmas as well though. I don't know if there is a better match personally. I have silverstars in my headlights and am trying to find a match for them.

I was wondering about that, but it's what housecor is using currently.

Well, the actual wording is: PIAA H3 BULB: SUPER PLASMA 55W=85W. I don't know if that means it's 55W or 85W. It also has a 5000K rating if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm assuming 55W is safe for the factory fog light harness?

I drive an '02 Maxima and have the H3 PIAA Extreme Whites at 55w at 4150k. Just installed them two weeks ago. It's definitely white but not an exact match to my HID's. I know the '02's HID are more white than the BMW's and Audi's(blueish purple hue) but for me, it still has more of a blue tint so I bought the PIAA 85w Super Plasmas at 5000k and it should be here either today or tomorrow. I can let you know if you haven't bought any thing yet. I also purchased the PIAA 9005 Extreme Whites at 4000k. It's definitely better than the stocks but looking at it behind the wheel, it looks like it has a tint of yellow still in it. Ed.

You're welcome. I have been using 55 watt PIAA Xtreme whites for about 2 years now. I have not had any problems with them.

I want to get some Silverstar H3s, but can't find them in my local stores (and I'm not very trusting of internet shopping). My stock foglights with silverstar headlights are really annoying me.

I saw some "hyperwhite" H3's at pep boys (don't remember the brand) and was considering trying them with my silverstars, but am unstrusting as to whether they will have a bluish or purplish tint.

I ordered my PIAA Super Plasmas from onewaymotorsport on EBAY. It cost me $48 plus $6 shipping. I also ordered the extreme whites from them and it came in about five days. They have 100% positive feedback after over 600 feedbacks so I went with them and happy I did. There's also another company that just started which I didn't see whe I bought mine with 100% positve feedback from about ten feedback that's selling the PIAA super plasmas for $50 with free shipping. Ed.

I installed the super plasmas a month ago. A great match for the OEM HID's! No issues what-so-ever. They turn alot of heads of Max owners with the OEM dreary yellow fog bulbs.

Go for it,,,

I just placed my order. I ordered mine from sounddomain.com. What I did was submit a lower price request and supplied the url to optauto.com. They then sent me a code that automatically lowered the price 105% of the difference. It wasn't much of a savings for just the bulbs, < $2, but I saved another $5 in shipping costs by going with Sound Domain. Should arrive Saturday or Monday.

AutoAllumination

Heres a site that has foglights and many other lights for the Maxima. They have great LED bulbs which are so much brighter then regular bulbs. Check out this site:

Thanks, I ordered the red and amber LED's for my clear corners from them a couple of weeks ago. I did look at their Super White Krypton H3 bulbs, but didn't know how bright they would be.

LED's

I Love the LED's in my clear corners, they really get bright at night and make the clear corners looks sweet. I am going to order some LED's for my reverse lights and license plate lights. I might even get some for my front blinkers when I decide to do the Clear install.

Super Plasmas. Let the picture speak for itself.
There IS NO better match, unless you go HID in the fogs.

The best match if you want to drop the cash are 4300K HID fogs, man they are bright.
