Hids are being stolen everywhere????

My HIDS were stolen once, my buddys have been stolen twice and they tried to steal my father in-laws yesterday but didn't suceed but the car had lots of damage , Does anyone know if anything is going to be done by nissan about this problem. This is a big defect these cars have because they make it so easy to steal these headlights. Has anyone in this forum had their headlight stolen????

It was only a problem in the Jersey area. Now you're telling us that it's spread down to Miami?

Well my fellow Maxima Buddies, i had mine stolen last week, guess what just after i took it to the dealer, guys if u live in the Queens NY area, pls beware which dealer u take your car to, it's the mechanics that work at the dealers, speaking from experience. Well i also have an alarm that does wake the whole block up, but if the dealer put it in valet mood and don't tell u, your car won't go off, that's what happen to me.

All I can say is this makes me sick. Thiefs know not to try that stuff in my neighborhood. If they don't see my NRA sticker on the car when I get my first page that someones at my car. They will hear a shot go out and they we go from there. And to those who say they have guns too. I say yeah they do but I don't they have been trained to shoot like I have, I only need one shot.

for any 2k2-3 guys who are worried about getting your HIDs stolen.......

because I'm a nice guy, I'll send you my non-HID 2k headlights, and you send me your HIDs, since they are interchangeable.

No HID theft problems around here....fairfax county cops don't mess around - they catch criminals.

It doesn't mean that FL, NJ, NY, CA cops are messing around.

yeah I know...but cops in Brooklyn, Bronx, NJ, LA, etc. have bigger things to worry about than stolen headlights (I lived in the Bronx, btw)

FFX county has a really high per-capita number of cops, plus there's not that much serious crime since this is a fairly middle-upper class area (though you'd never know it from my ghetto house )...cops have more time to deal with smaller crime. My college roomy has his stereo stolen (just the head unit) and the cops took prints, tracked the perp down and caught him in the act of stealing another one....

the downside is you get alot of speeding tix here

There isn't that big of a case of stolen HID's here yet in Chicago. (knock on wood) I called my dealer about getting the HID theft kit put on and they have never even heard of it!!! Is this covered under warranty? b/c if it is, I wanna press them for it before I get victimized too.

S. Fl and mine were taken twice before I did this:

Go to any Nissan dealer and look in their service dept. you will always see a headlightless max sitting there.
You can solve the problem or do a quick fix.
Here are the quick fixes:
alarm, data dots, hood lock. The reason I say quick fix is because this is a theft deterrent, not preventer. The hood lock is avoidable, the data dots just make the theft take longer than 30 secods (I'm not kidding, it really takes less than 30 seconds a side if you have a power screwdriver), and the alarm just makes noise, until they cut the speaker wire when the hood is open.

The solutions are get rid of the HID headlights, or get rid of the car.

Seth

P.S. There are several nissan dealers in S. Fl and ony 1 or 2 have even heard of the deterrent kits. But the service dept.s will tell you that its mixed bag when you install it because if the theif is in a hurry he will mess up the rest of your car when he tries to get the units out with the data dots. If he's a pro he will take it anyway. Of course the hope is that after your car is broken into, they will see that it will take more than 1 minute to steal and just leave them.

Yeah,
I've been in Seidel Nissan all week (time to do the 3k mile service for all our Nissans). I like the new location. It reminds me of Weston Nissan. Same style decor. Seidel knows of the deterrants and can order them. Weston never heard of them.

Damn, ever since I bought my 2k2, it's been nothing but a nightmare in FL. Some amature tried to break into my car leaving screwdriver imprints all over the driver side window and recently my passanger headlight was popped out. Had to upgrade the alarm with a clifford and park my car right next to my window.

The first time it happened it was right in front of my apartment. I park the car on the street, but its still in front of my door.
The second time was at my parents house. This was inside a driveway under a carport with a van parked behind it.
The alarm may sound but usually they stick some wirecutters under the hood to clip the horn wires (which are the speakers) so even if it does go off it isn't making any noise. And all the ignition kill stuff is useless since they don't want to steal the car anyway.
