Homelink

I'm sure this is posted somewhere but I didn't see it in the FAQ's and I am not allowed to search for some reason. Anyways I just moved into a new house and want to use this homelink feature. I followed the directions in the manual to program but I can't get it to work. I gave up after about 30 minutes, has anyone had sucess with this feature and have any suggestions? The garage door opener is a Genie about 2 year old model.

I'm not sure how you tried to program it, but you can no longer do it through the garage remote. It has to be programmed from the opener itself.

Ok, that helps. I was trying to use the remote since that is how the manuel says to do it. I will try the other route tonight.

Also if you have a roaming code door opener, you have to press a program button on the unit itself. Look about 3-4 pages back in this forum...somebody had similar issue.

Rolling Code

If your garage door opener is the "rolling code" variety, you have to first use the remote to program your Homelink. This makes sure that the Homelink has a code that is compatible with your opener. You then program the Homelink into your opener just like another remote. One thing to remember is that it programs in without the rolling code security. This means that someone could get your code and open your garage door. If you are really worried about security then just stick with the remote. If you are not that worried, then use Homelink.

Program one of the buttons in the car, press the program button on the Receiver (Genie), press the button you programmed in your car three times, done.
