I am going to try it today. Everyone says is pretty easy, supposedly if you can change your oil you can drail and fill your trany. Check out the Fluid section for all the details on how to change the MTF and what fluid.

i changed my tranny fluid yesterday. i have a 2k 5-speed and it was very easy. it took approxamitely 5 quarts. what i did is i filled it until it started to overflow then i immediately put the filler plug back in. i used mobil 1 fully synthetic 75w90 fluid.

Just finished draining the MTF today and it was pretty easy. I used the shift sensor approach rather then the drain plug. When I started to take the drain plug out I was having problems. It wasnt turning then the bold started to round out so I stopped. The shift sensor is much easer to reach and the fluid flows out quickly. The oil that came out was dark and stained w/ a golden/yellowish color and smelled bad too. I replaced with Amsoil series 2000 and it seems to shift much smoother.

Is the Amsoil supposed to be greenish?

Life time of Amsoil.

Any one know anything about the change cycle of Amsoil Series 2000 MTF? The back of the bottle says it lasts the LIFE of the car and NEVER needs to be changed again?! Can this be true? I thought Nissan recommended every 60K-70K you change the MTF.

Yes, AMSOil Synth Gear Lube is green.

As for the longevity of the gear lube, that is really up to you. Most people never change tranny fluid...auto OR manual. Some change it all the time (I have done it 3 times in 34K miles)....some fit in between.

Bill99gxe found that the OEM fluid in his auto wasnt worth a whooey after 18K, and had some similiar results with an Acura as well. Might want to check out the fluids forum for the DL'able spreadsheet and do some readin...might help your decision.
