Lost something in the cigarette lighter

The V1 radar detector has a plug-in adapter which contains the fuse. The litte silver piece on the end presses in and twists to remove the fuse. That little silver piece came out in the cigarette lighter and then went through some openings in the cigarette lighter. Am I going to have to remove that center console plastic to find it?

Most likely. Otherwise many other devices that use the cig lighter have the same built in fuse setup, and you might find another adapter with that piece somewhere around.

Same thing happened w/my V1 when I had it. I just took out another silver piece from another adapter I had lying around & taped that to the end. If you know how to, I guess you'll just have to open up the center console..I couldn't figure out any other way & didn't want to mess w/that, hence the elect. tape idea.

After this happening to me 3 or 4 times i finally just hard wired my V1 to my cigarette lighter. Everytime it seemed anyone moved my V1 adapter the thing would fall out. Best thing to do is just pop out the inside of the cigarette lighter and use the hardwire kit that came with your V1 to splice into the wire going to the back of the cigarette lighter. If you want full instructions just e-mail me and i'll help you out. This is probably the best mod i've done yet.

Same thing happened to me and to answer your question, yes, you are going to have to remove the center console. It's pretty easy to do. That piece you're talking about would pop out on me ocassionaly and I found out the best thing to do is that when you remove the cigarette adaptor, pull it out slow and straight out. If it still pops out, keep a paper clip handy and it'll be easy to fish it out instead of using your finger and causing it to fall behind the center console again.
