Anybody here bought the factory replacement setup for there '00+ Maxima? They claim exact bulb placement so the beam pattern would not change except becuase of being brighter.

Hey starstreak, I just bought a set of Europeen Xenon Crystal for something like 35-50$CDN a pair (yeah F*****g cheap ) there much brighter than the original one and have a little bluewish which is cool too, I installed those in about 5 minutes. Better night vision than stock original for shure.

You can buy those at Canadian Tires ( If you live in Canada ), by special order which takes 2 or 3 days.

Here is the website adress showed on the box: www.directautoimport.com

Take care

Hmm..

After blowing my first set of PIAA H4, i decided to get HID's. I gave them a call, and found them to be pretty knowledgeable. They are expensive!. I'll be getting my HID's anytime this week. I'll post some Pic's shortly after.

Re: Hmm..

Double- Sorry, what I was talking about was real HIDs. I have a pair of H4 super whites from PIAAs now.

Cisco- Yeah let me know. I can't wait to hear about them. They are exspensive, but if I remember right, OEM are about $1500 to get. (Not talking about max, but more in general)

its not factory per say, but they mod the HID to be direct replacement for the standard bulb and they make sure the light source is in the same position as the standard bulb.

Hey Guys, I just re-read some of the thread I posted about PIAA / Xenon / and other brand or type of bulb. After receiveing polite but sweet-sarcastic answer, I figured out that there was something I was missing not to say that I dont know a damn thing about car lighting.

My only experience being when I replaced the original OEM one by those Xenon Crystal last week. I can spend as much money as I want for my max and the improvement that I got with those 50$ Xenon satisfy me totally, so why I should spend 500-1500$ for HID ? convince me someone...

I did some research ( not over yet ) about HID and J it's a world by itself, it is known to be much more efficient and also very expensive. I believe that it is mostly use in the racing industries, does HID are street legal ? Why would we spend 500-1500$US for a pair of HID specially if it's illegal. I can understand why people add a Y-Pipe which is not street legal but it's a subtil mods, you have to be very unlucky to get caught and have to remove it.

Why HID's, I just dont get it, my only explanation is that you are really a bunch of passionate maxima freaks, ya man that the only reason.

Cheers

Take a look of the pics of the Philips HID kit that I sold & installed on a 300ZX. If those don't make you say "damn!" then I don't know what will

Thats what they "xenonshop" said they sell for the Maxima. Its a stock replacemnt.
As for why, I would rather have the real deal than a fake PIAA Super White than what I am using now.
As for a GOOD reason, I don't race much, but I do 80% driving at night, and these puppies should be much better to see with. And its a brighter white than a "bluish" tint like the fake aftermarket bulbs that simulate HID.

got rice- I couldn't get the post to work...
sascuderi- Get the HID that you can buy from the factory as the I30 '00 has HID as an option already. at least it'll be more legal than mines.

Hey got rice, thanks for the infos, I can certainly understand someone who drive a lot at night, a few hundreds $$$ to keep you alive is defenitely worth the investment, but HID are not on my list for now.

Best regards

Sitting in a parking lot and having a Hyperwhite headlamp pattern next to a HID pattern....no contest.

Phuong, nice pictures of the 300ZX HID install.
Hard to get that nice blue at start up.

I know for the '00 (which is a picture I want to see. hint hint someone) it will kill the high lights. Here in Hawaii that's not too bad being that there is really no reason to have them. Maybe if I replace those crummy fog bulbs I could fool some poor safty sticker place in still giving me my safty sticker.

HID's installed...

I had my HID's installed last night by Hogan. All i need to say is "WOW!" When the burner first lights up, it is a true blue color, but after a few seconds, It is truly bright white. My driveway lit up like daylight. Hopefully this weekend if the weather is good, I'll have an opportunity to take some pictures.

Just so I understand this, this is on a '00+ model Maxima right? Did you have to cut anything? How long was the install? Did you have to reangle the lights? Is it like driving with highlights but with a more angled bean instead of a wide beam?
thanks!

Well said...

With the HID's, it seems as if you can see everything to the side's and forward. Installation must have taken under 15 minutes. Hogan, your car is Badass!!. Peace!

Hmm now I want to order it. Where do you put the stick hookup? Is it just laying in the compartment? How does it connect to your stock wiring? Some sort of splicer? Is there instructions for the maxima?

Info...

I was contemplating on whether to get the HID's, or the Eibach/Tokico suspension combo. After I saw the HID's, i gave Hogan (Yo its OK) a buzz, and he hooked it up. Don't pay $650 for the kit guys. I paid way less than that from him. Hopefully if the whether is good this weekend, which i doubt, i will take pictures for you all to see.

You paid less from where? Same place? They claim they set it up for your car. Dunno how true that is. Anyways, any answers some of the questions I asked?

Most enthusiasts do prefer the angled bean approach.

Its $620 for the pair at www.xenonshop.com. And I think they said its free shiping and 10% off if you bay by paypal or creditcard. That's $558. That's only a bit more than Got Rice's quote. Write to them as I don't have the email they sent to me handy.

My normal price is $600 shipped, so it's not too far off from their normal price.

Aren't they in Canada?

I never checked. The only thing that's scaring me from getting these (HID in general) is how everything attaches and how easy it will be to go back together.

It's plug N play. You disconnect the stock harness. Take out the stock bulb. Put in HID bulb. Connect the ballast harness. Install stock harness onto ballast. Mount ballast. Done.

It takes more time to clean the area where you're mounting the ballast than installing the kit.

Heat Generated by HIDs?

Do these HID's run any hotter than the stock H4s?
