You using recommended fuel?
You ever change fuel filter/spark plugs and wires or use fuel system cleaner (BG44 K)?
You throwing a code (check engine light)?

I may have interest in this situation also. Sometimes, it "SEEMS" as if I get beautiful acceleration and other times, it's like mashing my foot into peanut butter. Getting on the onramp from a stop reminds me of a 4-cylinder and seems like I'm wasting a lot of gas. My throttle body appears to be squeaky clean, I have new ignition coils, its probably time for a new air filter, but i've always replaced it, I've had my injectors clean as well. I've seen a lot about MAF sensors lately, but I'm not sure if its the case; Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

Will someone shine some light on this one?

I see the same exact thing as darrelfsu. I have replaced my MAF and haven't seen any difference. I've had this same problem with other cars I have owned. Another one of my friends has had this same problem with his cars too. I do use 93 octance gas. Obviously if your engine knocks, the knock sensor will retard the timing and you probably would never notice. Except for the lack of power. Maybe that's what is going on. Could be the spark plugs too. But I only have about 42000 miles on the car. I can't imagine the spark plugs being a problem already. There's got to be something else going on.

I've got the answer...

It is pretty annoying when you expect the car to take off and it eases away like gramma heading to sunday service. Maybe I should just get a civic and save on gas at the same time.

How obvious is it when a VQ35 knocks? I am having the same problem with inconsistant power. I even tried the unthinkable an ran on 87 octane (only 5 gallons in an almost empty tank). I noticed no difference in performance. Other than that all I run is 93 octane. I have never noticed anything that resembled knocking. I am thinking me ECU may be setting my timing to crap.
