HELP...injen squeal revisited.......

I posted about this a long, long time ago, and to be honest I didn't look into it too much b/c I was too lazy/busy/etc.

BUT....I decided tonight to try and fix this problem once and for all...to NO AVAIL.

Here's the deal: I bought a used Injen CAI (please don't start any intake arguments and f-up my thread) about 6 months ago, and after I installed it, it worked great except for a slight squeal at various times. It usually happens b/w 3500 and 4500 RPM's and occurs with WOT or gradual acceleration. It is not the normal intake noise of sucking air. (that of course is always there) This is more similar to a brake squeal type sound. Again....it doesn't happen all the time....but usually every other time I accelerate.

To try and remedy this I dismantled the entire intake and reassmbeled and re-installed it. I cleaned all the hose connections on the intake, and made sure there was proper seal at each hose clamp.

I am stumped and frustrated. Any HELP would be appreciated.

Thanks....

RY

I had the same problem with a brand new Injen. I will be honest with you since I don't do any racing or engine torturing I was forced to ignore it. About three months I decided to change the filter since the injen set quite frankly sucks so I bought some generic 3" filter and to my surprise the noise went a way. This could be a possiblity. I also do not mean to sound nerdish but the positioning of your filter could play a big role in how the air circulate in the area where the cone is placed.

Hope this helps. I will try to get you the brand of the filter.

i've had my Injen for about a year and it squeals and whistles, but i'm used to it now. in fact, when i take my foot off the accelerator, it almost sounds like a BOV. some hon-duh boys ask me if i have a turbo in my car b/c the sound the Injen makes. but at wot, there's nothing like the injen sound.

i cleaned the fliter about 2 months ago and it still makes the same noises. i'm not concerned about it.

I just installed my Injen yesterday and it makes a squealing and whistling noise when i hit the gas, when I am between like 2-3RPMS. I just though it was the noise an intake was supposed to make?

My injen cai does the same thing. I really notice it at idle. I don't know. I've just been dealing with it.

Mine doesn't make any of the noises while idling. I don't think that's normal.

Mine only makes noises when I go through the RPMs, when on the gas.

I already replaced the filter to a big ol' K&N. Still squals.

Yeah...and it does kinda sound like a BOV. That's cool I guess.

There is no way to fix this. If the squeal/whistle bothers you, then reinstall the factory airbox. For me the Injen was only the sound. A this point there is no performance gain. Yes when I first got it there was more punch and throttle response but that went away after about 500 miles.
