A guy I work with purchased an auto 2001 Maxima GLE (Sterling Mist) this weekend, parting with his 2000 Honda Accord, which he stated was "loosing oil".

We spoke in length before his purchase on the pros and cons on the Maxima and the state of his Accord in general. He was getting a feel for what others drove and their opinions.

I was honest in stating up front the gas mileage as advertised is suspect and some have experienced problems. However, I do not experience many of the problems demonstrated on the site, so I could not vouch for problems other than the ones I have personally experienced: (1) auto transmission slipping (2) squeaks and rattles.

Anyway, we have another Max owner, but he will most likely not participate on the site (he is more than satisfied with the performance "as is") and doesn't mod anything, in general.

PS: He thinks the stock Maxima power is, quote, "awesome", and does not need more anything other than an auto Maxima in the congested Atlanta traffic.

I tried. I showed him the basics, such as clear markers, and worked up to suspension mods, etc. I even threw in the super charger (for extra HP) for good measure.

What can I say? I am not a good sales person.

I'm still workin' on 'em, though.

Some people just aren't into the whole car hook-up thing.

My friend owns an Altima and he babys it. But doesn't put any mods on it at all.

I showed him my clears and my Philips BVs. I told him that they were pretty cheap and made the car look a lil better.

I showed him my Philips BVs when it was drizziiling and at night and told him that they helped me see better at night and in the rain. Told them you could probably get them for about the same amount as a tank of gas and it be beneficial in the long run.

He refused to get them.

And when I tell all my friends that I have blacklights and neons in my car and indiglos, they're all like... "Why?"

Same thing with my popcharger or when I start talking about y-pipes and cat-backs.

Some people just like their cars the way it is. Oh well... their loss.
